PC gamers used to get the absolute best games back in the day. I’m talking about pre-PS2 days here. The days when, if you wanted the best version of a multiplatform game, it was the PC that reviewers pointed to. This has, in most cases, completely reversed now. Publishers and developers prefer gaming consoles instead of PC because of the relatively less piracy and the greater demand. This issue can be seen in all its glory in the recently released Call of Duty: Black Ops.
Google has started sending invites for the upcoming Chrome OS event which will be held in San Francisco on December 7.
iSHSHit is a new Cydia app that is an alternative to Tiny Umbrella. It lets you save and backup SHSH blobs directly off your iOS device. It also has the original functionality of being able to send your saved SHSH blobs via email, which is a very handy feature. It also automatically uses the Cydia On-File service, meaning that your SHSH blobs will also be saved on the Cydia servers.
Since the launch of Digg v4 earlier in August, the staff at Digg has been continuously rolling out new features to grab their lost user-base back. This has definitely given me a better user experience (in terms of features) but the social news site hasn't been able to put together the scattered community.
I have been complaining a lot lately about how Google is taking a lifetime to release the Android 2.3, aka Gingerbread for its users. We had reports of it coming with the release of Nexus S from Samsung last month but that was postponed for some reason.
Few weeks ago we reported about a new tweak available in Cydia called Parallax that allows you to use Android style panoramic widescreen wallpapers on your iPhone / iPod touch which scroll horizontally as you move along icon pages. But with a new app called 360 Panorama available on the App Store, you can now take your very own panoramic pictures which can also be used as iPhone wallpapers.
With a new tweak available in Cydia called Fake Operator, you can now rename your operator / carrier and put it as whatever you desire. Similar to the MakeitMine application that was released after the first-ever jailbreak, but with this new tweak you can do so without a dedicated app, oh and it is fully support on the latest iOS 4.2.1 firmware.
There's a new TV set to be in town and the brains behind it are confident or at least preparing hard to give Apple TV and the Google TV a tough challenge. We are talking about the rumors associated to Microsoft's own TV subscription in the pipeline.
Two heads are better then one and the same can be applied to two Kinect units. Now what good sort of gaming quality would the two Kinect units provide when paired together is another story but Oliver Kreylos has paired them for a different purpose. Kreylos released a video recently demonstrating the two paired Kinects, the output being meshed to add a different dimension to Microsoft's gaming device.
The recently released PwnageTool / Redsn0w jailbreak tools for iOS 4.2.1 requires you to transfer iPad’s 3.2.2 baseband to your iPhone 3GS & 3G in order to unlock it using Ultrasn0w 1.2. This has resulted in poor battery performance as has been experienced by many users. Some users have also complained about their device becoming very hot when in use.
