An increasing number of iOS 6 users have been experiencing difficulties with the automatic scheduling feature of Do Not Disturb that was released as part of the latest iteration of iOS. Users have been noticing that Do Not Disturb was not automatically disabling itself as per the scheduling instructions, something on which Apple has been quick to react to and issued a support article on their official support website.
Rather than just plucking out a random day from thin-air, Xbox LIVE’s Major Nelson has posted a rather teasing countdown that shows the number of days left until the E3 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, prompting intense speculation that Microsoft intends to introduce the world to the next-generation Xbox console.
There was quite a bit of buzz about the Ubuntu Website earlier on today, as the countdown banner approached a special announcement at 8AM ET. When it comes to rumors pertaining any one of Apple's vast Mac range, we often find ourselves churning up the same reported specifications as the previous year, minus the one or two exceptions that actually made the cut last time around. That is certainly the case with the latest report, which suggests the Cupertino will pack a new chipset into its updated Mac models this year, offering ridiculously-speedy 802.11ac network speeds. For those of you that remember, a similar notion was present prior to last year's refreshes, and although it never did materialize, it's none too surprising to see the same rumors crop up once more.
After a relatively slow start, cases and shells for the iPhone 5 are arriving at a rate of knots, and if you’re in the market for a protective bubble for your new Apple smartphone, we’ll be taking a look at a variety of them here at Redmond Pie. Hewlett-Packard disappointed many with its impromptu decision to ditch webOS, but as many others who got the opportunity to use it will vouch, it's a very useful operating system. It's clean, functions nicely, and as such, it should come as no surprise that some folks are trying to resuscitate it with the Open webOS project. Having already made its way to the Google-branded Samsung Galaxy Nexus, the webOS team has now managed to port it to the Nexus 7 tablet, and although it's not as smooth as one may have hoped, there are a lot of positives - notably the full functionality of the Wi-Fi and browser.
Apple is reportedly making a significant move to further reduce its reliance with bitter rival Samsung by moving production of the A6X processor away from the South-Korean based company. Speculation has been rife over the last few months surrounding a possible shift in manufacturing partnerships, with suggestions being made that Apple has the end-goal in sight of removing all of their business away from Samsung for obvious reasons.
Apple's iOS mobile operating system is revered in the mobile industry, and there's little doubting its reputation as one of the smoothest out there. With that said, long-time iOS users have noticed progress stagnate over the past few iterations, and with the sixth edition releasing last September, it just felt like more of the same. With Jony Ive now at the helm, the iPhone and iPad community have high hopes, and some have already thrown some ideas of their own into the mix. YouTuber BlogB13 is one such individual, and has quite wonderfully recreated key elements of iOS, including revamped Notifications, Social Hub and an all-new multitasking concept.
Although the vast majority of you on desktop or notebook machines will be running either Windows or OS X, a growing number of folks are opting for Linux, and for ease of use and all-round performance, Ubuntu is by far the least complicated solution. It's seen as a great platform for new-to-intermediate Linux users to ease their way in, and now Ubuntu has an exciting new project on the horizon. Details remain under wraps, although a countdown clock on the Ubuntu webpage running through 8AM ET on Wednesday, January 2nd, drops more than a big hint of a touch-based operating system.
