Want to see Apple CEO Tim Cook dancing? Well who doesn't honestly, but Tim is really brining it home with his dance moves that have a bit of everything, as he puts his non-skills at display at a live concert in Apple's Cupertino Headquarters.
It's almost Apple Watch time and a number of our favorite apps have been updated to support the impending wearable. Philips Hue, a smart, energy-efficient lighting system that can be controlled directly from iOS, has just brought Apple Watch into the equation with its latest update, letting you easily adjust or turn out the lights without even needing to pick up your iPhone or iPad.
The Apple Watch is an attractive product, there's no denying it, and while its charming aesthetic has generated a fair amount of hype, it's the substance - internal hardware, functionality and apps - that will determine how long this thing manages to stick around. As has been rumored throughout the blogosphere today, the Apple Watch App Store has been officially rolled out by Apple, and if you're hoping / expecting the device to arrive on your doorstep over the next few hours, then you can catch a preview of the app hub below.
The iPod touch hasn't seen any love for quite a while now - two-and-a-half years, to be precise - and with the Apple Watch now at the forefront of attention, the once-revered "iPhone without the phone part" has faded into the abyss. Some have, quite naturally, tipped the demise of the iPod touch, and given that Apple sells as large a variety of iPhone as it ever has - four models with three different display sizes and price points - it's hard to argue. Apple Watch bands are easily one of the more discussed aspects of the device, being the fashion targeted gadget that it is. Remember Knock, the cool little app that allowed you to unlock your Mac by knocking on your iPhone? Well today, it has been dealt quite a major update which brings similar functionality to the upcoming Apple Watch.
As is often the case with new Apple products, there was a manic rush for pre-orders of the Apple Watch when it was first made available to reserve back on April 10th. Historically, those who manage to get in early get their devices before those lagging behind, and within hours of the pre-orders beginning, many customers were reporting estimated shipping dates of 4-6 weeks. Some were even told that June would be a ballpark ETA for a product that hits the mass market on April 24th, but much to the surprise of some, the status of some of these orders has changed to "Preparing for Shipment" - a very pleasant surprise for those who may have prepared for a long wait.
When Apple released its new video showcasing its commitment to protection of the environment, it showed all kinds of things ranging from data centers to the production methods used when creating things like iPhones and Apple Watches. One thing that was noticed during the lengthy video was an as-yet unannounced charging dock for Apple's new smartwatch.
