Apple has sent out what can only be referred to as a courtesy email to select Apple Watch customers who had ordered the wearable. The email from the Cupertino giant is meant to reassure customers that their pre-orders are being processed, and once it has shipped out, they will be notified about it.
The decision to integrate biometric detection into consumer electronics may be popular with users and shows the willingness of companies to embrace emerging technologies, but the fundamental reason for such integration boils down to one thing: an attempt to improve security. The data associated with biometric capture extends beyond a simple password or code created by the user. It actually forms part of who that person is as an individual and is quite possibly as personal as it can get, so when things go wrong, as one research company will point out at this week's RSA, it raises a lot more eyebrows than a simple password breach. According to a new report, a number of Android devices are failing to protect the data of users that is captured through integrated biometric sensors.

When Apple released its new video showcasing its commitment to protection of the environment, it showed all kinds of things ranging from data centers to the production methods used when creating things like iPhones and Apple Watches. A few years ago, before the big IPO, Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook were continually - and correctly - lambasted for their decidedly below-par mobile efforts. For a company that had a following then well into the hundreds of millions - now in the billions, of course - Facebook on iOS and Android were a major let down, but in recent times, things have dramatically improved. Facebook has, at times, partaken in the sport of throwing ideas against the wall and seeing what sticks - with varying degrees of success - and now, has launched an all-new dialer app for Android called Hello.

Apple's iOS devices and indeed its Macs have tended to fare relatively well in the world of security, not finding themselves on the wrong end of too many major incidents. A new security flaw, outed at the RSA security conference in San Francisco, may prove troublesome for users of iPhones and iPads though, mainly because it has the potential to cause those devices to go into a constant boot-loop.
If it seems like you can't open a webpage these days without it being full of Apple Watch news then, well, you're probably just going to have to come to terms with that for the next few days at least. Apple's first wearable goes on sale this coming Friday, and it's causing quite the stir. With three models to choose from it's not always easy to make that particular buying decision, and if you are concerned about the durability of your smartwatch then things are particularly complicated because the cheaper Apple Watch Sport comes with a different screen to the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition.
