LockLauncher 2.0 Jailbreak Tweak Adds iOS 6 / iPhone 5 Support

LockLauncher, a popular jailbreak tweak has seen an update to version 2.0 today, adding new features and compatibility to the mix. More details can be found right after the break.

Now up to version 2.0, LockLauncher makes it possible to launch an app from the phone’s lock screen without having to first unlock their phone and then go hunting for the app in question.

Already popular amongst jailbreakers, this 2.0 update brings support for the iPhone 5 as well as iOS6, along with addition, smaller, feature updates. Overall performance improvements are also a welcome change in version 2.0.

Now that a jailbreak has been released for the iPhone 5, jailbreak developers are scrambling to bring iPhone 5 support to their tweaks and apps, with LockLauncher the latest to receive a spot of spit and polish.

The tweak, once installed, can be configured via the usual Settings app, where users will find an option to turn the tweak itself on and off, and this is where they will also choose the apps that they want to be available from their iOS device’s lock screen. We’ve said it from time and time again, but the ability to switch a tweak on or off completely is really a godsend.

One interesting feature of LockLauncher is the ability to queue up apps. Users can select multiple apps to launch, with the device then having them all ready to go at a double tap of the home button. We’re not sure it’s a feature that really needs to be in there, but if you’ve got a particular use for it we’re sure you’ll appreciate its addition.

Those of us that are security conscious need not worry too much either, as even though LockLauncher allows the launching of apps right from a locked device’s lock screen, the tweak still requires the entry of a PIN code, assuming one has been set up, obviously. The tweak would be useless, no matter how good it was, if it allowed the bypassing of the main security feature aimed at protecting data. Thankfully, it’s all good here.

Fans of the tweak can download LockLauncher 2.0 from the BigBoss repo for $1.99 and it is available now.
