iOS 16.3 Release Notes Along With iPadOS 16.3’s Available Now

iOS 16.3 release notes along with that of iPadOS 16.3’s release notes now available online. Here are the details.

Apple’s iOS 16.3 update is now available for download after a month-long beta program that started in December 2022. The update can be downloaded by anyone with a compatible iPhone.

The new update adds a number of new features and also deals with a few bugs that have been an issue for some users. The release notes are now available to read as well, and they outline exactly what downloaders can expect from this update.

The main new feature is the ability to use hardware security keys with your Apple ID, ensuring that the physical key has to be plugged in as a form of two-factor authentication. Without it, your Apple ID cannot be accessed.

Apple has also added support for the new 2nd-generation HomePod that will go on sale next month, while the new Unity wallpaper is also available as part of Apple’s Black history celebrations.

In terms of bug fixes, Apple now says that it has dealt with a problem that caused some iPhone 14 Pro Max handsets to display horizontal lines on-screen when waking up, while CarPlay issues that saw Siri requests not be understood correctly should also be gone after installing iOS 16.3.

• Emergency SOS calls now require holding the side button with the up or down volume button and then releasing in order to prevent inadvertent emergency calls
• Fixes an issue in Freeform where some drawing strokes created with Apple Pencil or your finger may not appear on shared boards
• Addresses an issue where the wallpaper may appear black on the Lock Screen
• Fixes an issue where horizontal lines may temporarily appear while waking up iPhone 14 Pro Max
• Fixes an issue where the Home Lock Screen widget does not accurately display Home app status
• Addresses an issue where Siri may not respond properly to music requests
• Resolves issues where Siri requests in CarPlay may not be understood correctly
