How To Get Dark Mode Theme On WhatsApp In iOS 11 Running On iPhone

A new tweak has landed for jailbroken devices which introduces a gorgeous pure black dark mode for the official WhatsApp running on iOS 11-powered devices. In contrast to Apple’s Accessibility-based Smart Invert mode, this is a true implementation of a dark skin for the Facebook-owned WhatsApp.

For one reason or another, a high percentage of smartphone owners love a good dark mode or black skin for apps. Apple’s intelligent Smart Invert feature does a fairly good job of inverting colors intelligently on a non-jailbroken iOS device but it doesn’t exactly get it perfect due to the fact that it can’t accurately handle emojis and other UI elements just yet.

However, the release of the WhatsApp Dark Mode tweak means that jailbroken device owners who have liberated their device using Electra on iOS 11 can now get a true dark mode experience for the most popular communication tool on the App Store.

It’s worth noting that this particular release is being pushed out into the community as a beta installation, meaning that it isn’t expected to be perfect in all areas. So, keep that in mind when installing. It’s also worth mentioning that currently, if you are a non-jailbroken device owner, then the only way to replicate this experience is by using Apple’s Smart Invert functionality, you can find more info on how to use Apple’s feature here.

But now, if you are a regular WhatsApp communicator who tends to do most of your talking over the most popular IM app on the planet, and who would definitely be interested in introducing a dark and edgy visual experience to the app, then this tweak is definitely for you. However, as is the way with tweaks of this nature, you are going to need to be jailbroken using Electra on iOS 11.0 through iOS 11.1.2 in order to take advantage of it.

If you are in a jailbroken state, simply launch Cydia, add the repo to your list of repositories, and grab the WhatsApp Dark Mode tweak right now.

Once installed, you should just be able to invoke WhatsApp like you normally would and experience everything that the package offers, with one of the major benefits being that it’s designed to offer a pure black experience to take advantage of the iPhone X OLED panel in order to save power. Form and function; what more could you want?
