Download iOS 6.0.2 For iPhone 5 And iPad mini [Direct Links]

In its efforts to continue updating and improving iOS, Apple has just released iOS 6.0.2 exclusively for the iPhone 5 and iPad mini. Unlike other earlier versions of 6th-gen iOS, this one is tailored especially to the new iPhone 5 and iPad mini. More details after the break.

Apple tends to be pretty thorough when it come to ironing out the kinks within its mobile operating system, and although this update looks only to be minor, the change log points out one specific bug with regards to Wi-Fi.

As we saw yesterday with the release of iOS 6.1 beta 4 to registered developers, Apple does not want the issue of Maps to leave a stain on an otherwise successful release, and with Jony Ive said to be preparing a new (likely overhauled) interface for iOS 7 and beyond, the glitched navigation utility doesn’t look to have blemished iOS’s reputation too much.

It is something of a rarity for Apple to release an iOS update for just one or two devices on its roster, but this is by no means an isolated incident. The Wi-Fi bug stated in the release notes seems only to affect the iPhone 5 and iPad mini, so if you’re in ownership of either of those two brand-new devices, it is advised you update right now by heading over to Settings -> General -> Software update on your respective device.

For the rest of you, the latest version remains iOS 6.0.1 (download iOS 6.0.1 from here), although with the fourth beta of iOS 6.1 having landed yesterday, it is anticipated that the end-user release will be somewhere around January 2013.

Among other features in iOS 6.1, there will be enhancements to Siri on compatible devices, an improvement on the way Passbook deals with boarding passes, and some are even touting improvements to battery life across the board.
