Cydia v1.1.32 Update Released To Fix Crashing Problem, But Issues Remain

Cydia has been the go-to package installer for jailbreakers since day one many years ago and it remains the default one installed via checkra1n and unc0ver. It has just received a new update taking it to version 1.1.32, and with that it also ditched the beta tag, too.

That’s after checkra1n developer Sam Bingner shared details about the update to Reddit.

They noted that this update includes a fix for the last known bug, meaning Cydia is no longer a beta release.

Pushed a Cydia update that fixes the bug where it could sometimes crash on opening due to a corrupted metadata.cb0
It is no longer marked as beta because this fixes the last known issue… I’m sure there are more somewhere, but they aren’t known crash-on-open issues. 😀

According to reports that fix means no more crashes when opening an app if there was corruption found in the metadata.cb0 file. The theory goes that this will make everything nice and stable, but as ever, things aren’t quite that simple.

That’s because that same Reddit thread saw people reporting that they’re still having problems. At this point it isn’t clear whether the crashes that are still being experienced are a result of the same bug, or if a new one was introduced as part of the update. Either way, it’s not good news.
