Chimera iOS 12.4 Jailbreak With A12 Support Teased By Developer

Popular jailbreak tool Chimera might be getting a little more useful following the release of a screenshot showing it running on an iPhone XS with iOS 12.4 installed.

Normally jailbreaking that combination of hardware and software would be an issue, but this screenshot hints that might not be the case much longer.

The screenshot itself was shared via Twitter by jailbreaker Coolstar. The screenshot shows Chimera confirming that an iPhone XS running iOS 12.4 is compatible and supported. There’s also a button that would presumably kick the jailbreak process off, too.

There isn’t much more to go on here, however. No expectations have been set as for when this release will be available. Competing jailbreaks have also been working to make this a reality and now Chimera looks set to join the queue.

One important aspect here is Cydia. The jailbreak tweak store is also on the way which means that jailbreakers will have access to all of their favorite tweaks, apps, and tools. This is also the first time that Cydia’s appearance on iOS 12.4 and devices running an Apple A12 device has been a possibility. Sileo will be also available as has been the case with Chimera for a while.

Of course, if this version of Chimera was ready for prime time then we would have seen more than a single screenshot. The fact we didn’t suggests that there is still plenty of work to be done. The fact that the work is being undertaken at all is surely good news, though.
