Microsoft Shows Off ‘Windows in the Car’, A Direct Competitor To Apple’s CarPlay [VIDEO]

Oliver Haslam·April 7, 2014
Hot on the heels of Apple's CarPlay, Microsoft's effort is decidedly similar to that of the iPhone maker. Windows in the Car follows the same approach in that it will allow users of Windows Phone devices to take over a car's built-in entertainment and navigation systems using the Mirrorlink standard, with all input duties then taken over by a large touch screen built into the car's dashboard.

iPhone 5c Sold More Units Than Android, Windows Phone Flagships Last Christmas

Ben Reid·March 25, 2014
The iPhone 5c has been cited by many as a failure, but while the device is assumed not to have sold in as high a number as Apple might have liked, recent predictions from analysts based upon official financial info made available by the Cupertino suggests that the device has actually fared rather well. Even though Apple hasn't offered a breakdown of iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c sales, preferring to release figures under the general, 'iPhone' umbrella, analysts have done their homework and found that over the holiday period of 2013, the iPhone 5c outsold many of the market's flagship handsets.

Rovio’s Next Title Angry Birds Epic Is A Turn-Based Adventure RPG Game

Ben Reid·March 13, 2014
A couple of days back, Rovio Entertainment pushed a teaser trailer of a medieval-themed title, which it promised would be “the most epic soft release ever.” The trailer itself didn't give too much away besides the theme, but now, Kotaku has got wind that the title will mark the Finnish company's first delve into the adventurous world of role-play titles. Due to release later on this week in Australia and Canada, we're more than a tad bit excited to see where this might lead, and although there's no shortage of great RPGs knocking about, Rovio has proved time and again that it knows just how to keep us sufficiently entertained.

Windows Phone 8.1 Will FINALLY Bring Wallpaper Support To Start Screen [Image]

Ben Reid·March 4, 2014
The leap from Windows Phone 8 to Windows Phone 8.1 doesn't, on paper, seem like much of a big deal. In fact, such a '.1' update usually suggests a couple of decent new features, a few housekeeping enhancements, and a shiny new version number. But having already seen features like Cortana, the new Action / Notification Center, the Android-esque touch buttons and the Swype-like keyboard, Windows Phone 8.1 is shaping up as a very serious release indeed. Adding to the already exciting list of upcoming additions, a new leak has shown off one rather more simple feature that Windows Phone has been lacking to date - custom wallpapers.

Ben Reid·March 4, 2014
We've already seen the many ways in which Android can run, process apps and push games on platforms such as Windows and OS X, but from later this year, we may see it make the jump to Windows Phone, in turn creating the very first dual-boot Windows Phone / Android devices on the market. At present, those with an affinity to both Microsoft and Google's respective mobile platforms need to own two mobile devices in order to enjoy using each, but according to The Times of India, native company Karbonn Mobiles will soon begin shipping Windows Phones that also support Google's Android.
