If you happen to be the owner of a touch-screen tablet like the iPad or something similar, and also a big fan of Microsoft's Office suite of programs, then you probably live under an umbrella of disappointment and are aware of the fact that the Redmond software giants don't offer any native Office apps for the iPad. There's been talk of the iPad App Store receiving some official apps from Microsoft, but up until now nothing has come to fruition, leaving some users extremely disappointed and having to look for alternative solutions to satisfy their need to create and edit documents on the go.
Microsoft has a pretty busy schedule coming up over the next couple of months, and as well as Windows 8, Windows Server 2013 and the introduction of the Surface tablet, Office 2013 is also in the pipeline. The next iteration of the popular productivity suite has been available to download as a preview version for the past couple of weeks now, bringing many new features including deep cloud integration, and now the Redmond-based software extraordinaire has launched a dedicated Store for Microsoft Office 2013.
Microsoft Office is widely renowned as the number one software package in the field of productivity, and in line with the upcoming release of Windows 8, the Redmond company is also preparing a new version of its popular suite, Microsoft Office 2013.
Microsoft has been somewhat coy with regards to Office 15, or Office 2013, but towards the end of its Tech-Ed 2012 keynote, it gave a little more insight into the upcoming version of Office. Set to be called Microsoft Office: Office 2013 RT, it was demonstrated only very briefly, but did appear to serve to confirm the rife rumors that it will indeed be landing next year.
Two weeks ago, some preliminary information and screenshots of the Office 15 Technical Preview build surfaced on The Verge. Today, they have followed up with additional information, this time providing a quick rundown of some of the new features that have been implemented in 'main' Office applications - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote - thus far. While Microsoft has mainly remained quiet about what's coming in Office 15, as it is a Technical Preview build - which is passed to OEMs, partners, and select testers - leaks should come as no surprise, and should even be expected in some cases.
The Daily posted two screenshots of what they claim to be Office for iPad. One screenshot showed what looks like the "start screen" of the app, where you can open and create documents, and the other showed the "Office" app icon.
Once upon a time it was all about Microsoft. When you thought about technology companies, mentioned enterprise software or even talked about an operating system, Microsoft was the name that was on the tip of everyone's tongue. With the recent rise from the ashes of Apple Inc., times have changed a little and suddenly the Redmond company don't have it all their own way. Microsoft has just released the first Service Pack for Office 2010, the newest version of the most popular productivity suite in the world. As with other service packs, Office 2010 SP1 doesn't include significant new features but it does improve all of the built-in applications, such as Word, Excel and Outlook.
Realizing the importance of the increasing market share which the iPhone platform currently posses, Microsoft today has released OneNote app for iPhone and iPod touch. This is the fourth app which has come out of Microsoft for the iPhone/iOS platform, the other three being Bing for iPhone, Seadragon Mobile, and Microsoft Tag.
