Beginning with mere text chat back in the days of IRC, communicating online via voice and video has now become commonplace, and thanks to the likes of Skype and FaceTime, it's never been so easy to have a face-to-face conversation with friends and relatives across the world from many different devices.
Jony Ive, or Sir Jony Ive as he is known in his native United Kingdom, is widely regarded as the man behind some of Apple's most iconic designs. Once described by Steve Jobs as the man with the most power and influence within the fruit company besides himself, he is responsible for the look of everything from the MacBook air to the market-defining iPad.
The speed at which iOS developers within the jailbreak community seem to act on an idea and turn it into a fully functional reality never ceases to amaze me. It was only a matter of days ago when we brought you the beautiful fold-to-unlock iOS concept which Dribbble member Anton Kudin released, something that prompted Jonas Gessner to spring into action and produce a working variant of the idea.
Although a large portion of us carry around more than one mobile device that is always beeping, ringing or displaying a notification informing you that someone has just poked you on Facebook, and there are a lot of moments when you just wish your device could just keep quite. With every installed app seeming to have some kind of notification ability built into it, it can sometimes be tough to just relax without the iPhone or iPad prompting you to read something.
Although we're not expecting Apple to launch its next iPhone until this Fall, there has still been plenty of speculation regarding what it will eventually look like. The consensus seems to be that the fruit company will finally deviate from the ever-present 3.5-inch display, in favor of a larger display in keeping the rest of the market.
Rumors are just that, rumors, and the iPhone 5 is currently in the middle of more than its fair share. It is par for the course for any big Apple hardware release, but the rumor mill seems to only intensify as each year goes by. The latest to be bandied around is the suggestion that the next iPhone will be the first to feature a new screen, with not just more pixels but more inches, too.
Ever wanted to learn how to play the guitar, but never had a great way to learn? A new Kickstarter project may just have what you need. Kickstarter is home to all kinds of weird, wonderful and plain old whacky things. Technology-related toys are always popular on the project backing site though, and the gTar is proving to be just another exciting venture that is capturing the hearts and minds of the technological elite.
Panoramic photography has experienced a rather staggered start in the mobile spectrum, and although Apple toyed with the idea of implementing a panorama mode as a native feature to iOS 5, it never made the final cut. Much like 3DTV in a way, it yields some awesome results, but the jury remains out as to whether it has a large-scale future.
With the introduction of iOS 5, Apple dramatically re-imagined the way that their mobile operating system handles user-facing notifications. On the whole, users were extremely happy to see the change considering that the old method of presenting a bland and intrusive alert provided a negative user-experience and interrupted whatever the user was doing on the device.
There are situations I face on a daily basis where I just wish I could just press a button and shut down all of the world’s noisiness. You might think it would take some super-advanced technology to make this happen, but really all it takes is a good pair of (preferably in-ear)-headphones and a specialized piece of software that offers brainwave entertainment. We’ll be covering one such app today. Check it out after the jump!
