Hacking, as we've seen on many occasions, can be used for good as well as evil, or at least unscrupulous ends, but a new game for iOS by the name of 868-HACK plays down the wider issues by letting you have fun and essentially become a computer geek yourself. Of course, since it's made purely for entertainment, there's nothing amiss (although one suspects some App Store browsers may be initially off-put), and once you get into it, there's much fun to be had.
Although the simple puzzlers continue to rule the roost when it comes to gaming in mobile space, the marked improvements made to processor and graphics performance have enabled developers and publishers of the more substantial titles to bring an experience to smartphones and tablets something like console quality. In terms of driving games, there are a few noteworthy offerings including the Real Racing trilogy, and joining the race for supremacy is 2K DRIVE, a new iOS exclusive that has just debuted at the App Store.
You can now download SNES emulator for iPhone and iPad, which is hidden smartly under an app on the iOS App Store. Read on for more details.
Back when the Evad3rs team came through with the untethered jailbreak for iOS devices up to and including iOS 6.1.x, it was later stated by those behind it that a jailbreak for iOS 6.1.3 would not be pursued because exploits would instead be saved for the more pressing issue of iOS 7. This hasn't stopped other well-known developers from trying to find a solution, and developer Winocm has just thrown out a tweet suggesting he is getting there.
The official Twitter app has taken a fair bit of stick over the years, especially with the likes of Tweetbot hanging around, but it's fair to say that in recent times, things have improved dramatically. Today, Twitter for Android and iOS have both been given rudimentary updates, with the main alteration being that conversations between tweeters are now clearer, rather than showing up as individual tweets.
It seems almost certain that Apple will introduce two new iPhones on September 10th, the date set for a special media event to showcase the budget iPhone 5C and the flagship iPhone 5S. But while we continue to see leaks an hear rumors of the iPad 5 and second-gen iPad mini, there hasn't been much indication to suggest that the upgraded tablets will be launching alongside those new iPhones. However, a report from Bloomberg cites "a person familiar with the matter" in stating that the Cupertino company has “several more game changers” in the offing, which could mean that we see those new iPads at the very same event.
BitTorrent Sync, the Android app that allows you to easily move files across your devices without the involvement of the cloud, has just been updated, and a version for iOS will be headed to the App Store later on this week, according to the company's official blog. Citing weaknesses with cloud-based services, BitTorrent Sync arrives almost like a watered-down and simplified version of BitTorrent protocol in the traditional sense, and with many continually questioning the rationale of uploading so much personal data to the cloud, as well as the motives and policies of those retaining said data, BitTorrent Sync serves as a quick solution for your file-transfer needs.
The Google Chromecast dongle has been making some ripples recently in the portable technology world. The little $35 dongle allows users to stream high-definition content directly to a TV set through service providers such as Netflix and YouTube. The content may be fairly limited at the moment, but with the Mountain View company planning on adding additional providers, the future looks bright for Google's little connected device. Having said that, controlling and interacting with the Chromecast got a tad bit easier with the official release of the Chromecast app for iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices.
We're getting closer and closer to the expected September 10th announcement of whatever Apple ends up taking the covers off of, and the rumors and leaks are just beginning to really gather pace. At this point it's difficult to believe that there is a great deal that Apple will be able to spring a surprise with, but that isn't going to stop the leaks from coming.
iOS 7 beta 6 download was seeded about a week or so ago, and is currently the latest available beta version of the next generation iPhone, iPod touch and iPad operating system that has been seeded to Apple’s registered developers. Despite some sources claiming that a beta 7 might also get to see light of the day, it seems unlikely at this point, as neither is there enough time nor much need for that.
