A little light-hearted mocking of rivaling companies and their products never hurt anybody in the tech industry, and as we've seen through numerous ad campaigns over the years, they're all at it. With MWC not too far away, Huawei has caricatured Apple's Siri voice assistant to rib both the Cupertino company and rival Samsung, while also promoting its new, to-be-announced smartphone and tablet. Check out the humorous clip right after the break!
Flappy Bird was recently pulled from the App Store and Google Play Store at the height of its popularity by developer Dong Nguyen, and although his reasons for removing the app appear to have been well-intended, folks have sought to cash in on the title's fame in a variety of ways.
Analysts are notoriously hit and miss when it comes to their predictions at the best of times, and that goes doubly so when you throw Apple and its wall of secrecy into the mix. That doesn't stop analyst upon analyst trying to guess and double-guess what the folks in Cupertino have up their collective sleeves, and it doesn't stop us from listening to them either. Which is fine, so long as their claims come with a healthy dose of salt.
Getting a discount on a current-gen Apple device is an almost impossible task wherever you care to look, and although you can often save a couple of bucks if you buy, say, a gift voucher of equal value to the amount off the usual retail price, Best Buy will be offering a no-strings $50 off all Apple iPhones from Sunday. The Apple vs. Samsung patent debacle has been a recurring theme of the mobile industry during the past few years, with each company putting forth their cases pertaining to the supposed patent infringement of the other. Prior to each hearing, the executives high up in both Samsung and Apple meet up for clear-the-air talks in an attempt to find some kind of resolution. But this mandatory meeting seldom works where these two titans are concerned, and with another high profile court case looming, a meeting between Apple chief Tim Cook and JK Shin - just one of the Korean company's three CEOs, has proved a fruitless exercise.
Steve Jobs' passing has left a significant void in the world of technology, particularly at Apple, the company he co-founded and led from near-collapse to the force it has become in the modern Digital Age. As well as the Walter Isaacson biography and the forthcoming Sony movie, there are numerous, clips, quotes, and, of course, products that serve to remind us of just how influential Jobs has been in the technology industry. But the story of Jobs and Apple goes way back, long before the iPod and the MacBook, and a time capsule, first discovered back in 2013, contained some of his older belongings, including a Lisa mouse. Today, for the first time, photos have been released offering a visual of some of the capsule's contents.
It has been claimed that Apple is sharpening its claws for an assault on the mobile fitness industry, with a so-called Healthbook app presenting a Passbook-esque interface of stacked cards, each containing different snippets of information related to your overall personal fitness and well-being. Today, designer Carlos Quijano has thrown up a concept design of Healthbook for iOS 8 in action, featuring, among other ideas, integration with the elusive iWatch.
