Comex Not Working on iOS 4.1 Jailbreak?

Well well.. it was only a few days ago when MuscleNerd of iPhone Dev-Team confirmed that Comex will try and jailbreak iOS 4.1 using another userland exploit, if not then we will have to wait for a low-level bootrom exploit which may take longer to release. And now, while replying to a Twitter user, Comex has confirmed that the next iOS 4.x jailbreak may not come from him.

One of the new features in iOS 4.1 in the introduction of HDR (High Dynamic Range) photography for iPhone 4 users. With HDR option enabled in Camera app, you can take more detailed photos than what a normal photograph can show or capture. This feature basically takes three photos in quick succession, one properly exposed, one overexposed and one underexposed, and then combines all three to produce one single detailed photograph.

With Gridlock, you no longer need blank icon apps which has these ugly shadows and you have to be careful not to tap on them by mistake. It gives you full freedom arrange your apps any way you like, as can be seen in the screenshots below.

iPod touch 4G’s Retina Display may not be same as the one on iPhone 4 [Video]

iPod touch 4G was announced only a few days back at Apple’s annual “Special Media Event” in San Francisco. Even though the new “touch” has got two cameras: one on the back for HD video recording and one on the front for FaceTime calls, 960 x 640 Retina Display and all, but the fact that the camera on the back can only take still shots at 0.7 megapixels was met with disappointment by many.

The official UK website of Apple has this confirmation up on the site that iOS 4.1 for iPhone and iPod touches will drop on Wednesday, September 8th. This is probably the same day when the new iPod lineup for fall 2010 (iPod nano, iPod shuffle and iPod touch 4G) will also go retail.

Back when iOS 4 was released, it had all sorts of performance issues when it ran on older devices such as iPhone 3G. Last month, Jobs confirmed that a new software update will fix some performance woes of iPhone 3G running iOS 4.x. Final GM Build of iOS 4.1 (developers only) was released this week for iPhone 4, 3GS, 3G and iPod touch and Lifehacker has a video up for us, comparing both iOS 4.0 and iOS 4.1 running on iPhone 3G. The difference is quite noticeable in some cases as can be seen in the video embedded below.

Apple has just seeded iOS 4.1 GM Build, along with SDK for iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touches. This is for developers only. Only members enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can access these bits of by signing into Apple Developer Connection.

iPod nano 6G with Multi-touch Screen and iPod shuffle Announced

Apple has completely redesigned both the iPod nano and iPod shuffle for their fall 2010 iPod lineup. iPod nano gains multi-touch functionality, new lighter and smaller square’ish design, and at the same time loses video camera which was only introduced last year. iPod shuffle on the other hand has got all the buttons back, with a new large battery which gives up to 15 hours.
