The Windows 8 advertising campaign is like London buses at the minute; you wait patiently to see what Microsoft will launch to promote their new software only to find that four different video-based adverts have leaked at the same time. Only a couple of weeks are left until Windows 8 officially drops for the masses, and while the technology elite know a lot about the gorgeous new OS thanks to pre-release versions and keeping on top of the news, the general public may be non-the-wiser about what Microsoft is bringing with this latest offering.

The App Store is currently awash with productivity and to-do list apps that attempt to inject a little bit of organization into our hectic lives. Although pretty much built with the same goal in mind - to increase productivity - they all go about accomplishing the task in their own unique way. The Teed app has recently been updated to the all important version 2.0 and offers powerful to-do list management features in a simple interface that breeds familiarity due to its use of standard iOS controls.
There's been plenty of talk centered around iOS and Windows Phone 8 of late, but today seems to be the turn of Google and their fabulous Android OS as the Android Open Source Project is seeing the release of 4.1.2 Jelly Bean. The 4.1.2 incremental update is only a minor improvement over the previous 4.1.1 release, but will definitely bring some notable improvements to Nexus 7 owners.
It may not be the most feature-packed update that has ever been released, but Mozilla has kept in line with their relatively recent tradition of pushing out prompt updates to their software by making the final build of Firefox 16 web browser available for download. Once upon a time, we found ourselves having to wait an extremely long time before any new browser update was pushed out, especially major revisions like this, but the new rapid revision approach is definitely beneficial to those who user the software.
Although iOS 6 has generally been classed as a triumph and definitely represents evolution of the software, there are still some users who feel that Apple has regressed with certain aspects of the firmware. Long time iOS device owners are used to firing up the Maps app and getting information fed back from the trusted Google Maps service, something that is non-existent in a stock installation of iOS 6 thanks to the inclusion of Apple's own vector-based mapping app. Some people just don't like change, and if you happen to be one of those people then the ClassicMap app on the App Store might be what you need.
Fresh reports from this morning are suggesting that consumers in the United States may not need to wait that long to get their hands on a fabulous new Windows Phone 8 powered smartphone, with pre-orders for the first wave of handsets looking likely to begin in the next couple of weeks starting on October 21st.
The iPhone and iPod touch range of devices are pretty much straight-forward to setup and are easy to get around with. iOS is extremely intuitive, making it relatively simple for even new users to figure out what's going on and how things work. For those who like a little more information or want to know the intricacies or power-features of the device, Apple always publishes a free of charge user guide through the iBooksstore, with the iPod touch version just receiving an update to cover the new fifth-generation iPod touch.
Customers of T-Mobile in the United States have some good news to get excited about, with the official announcement that the network and Nokia have formed a partnership that will see them introduce and offer the Nokia Lumia 810 exclusively to T-Mobile customers.
Although, the sweet taste of victory is still in the air in California where Apple was awarded more than $1 billion in damages as a result of the Samsung patent infringement case, it doesn't wipe out the bitter memories which the company has related to patents in the past. A number of corners have often been critical about Apple's approach to submitting patents for pretty much anything and everything, but there is a method behind what may seem like madness, and it apparently stems from a $100 million iPod related loss back in 2006.
If you happen to be in the United Kingdom and are looking for a new smartphone deal and tariff, then it might be worth considering the O2 network as they have officially made the James Bond-branded Sony Xperia T smartphone available for customers. It's been known for a while that the network would be offering a 007 Xperia T experience to customers, but we just weren't sure when it would start appearing on the company's online store, but what they are calling "The Bond Phone" is now available.
