We already know that Microsoft is committed to prove themselves as a hardware company. The introduction of the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 in New York last month pretty much confirmed that the Redmond based company aren't planning on licking their original Surface wounds and shying away from a competitive market. October 22nd is the date that was given during that dedicated event, and as the launch date gets ever closer, we are now seeing some Surface 2 promotional videos that show consumers exactly what they'll be getting if they part with their hard earned dollars.
All major manufacturers in the mobile industry are consistently trying to improve the devices that they launch by including some kind of innovation that will set them apart from the competition. As we know, innovation isn't always possible on the scale that some would like, so when in doubt, the next best thing is to take inspiration from those around you. It seems that the monstrous HTC One Max may have been a little inspired by Apple's inclusion of Touch ID in the recently released iPhone 5s, and will launch with similar fingerprint scanning capabilities.
Microsoft has become the latest in a long list of large developers to update one of their native mobile apps for iOS 7. The Redmond company's latest update to the Skype app for iPhone and iPad is currently propagating its way through the App Store and brings the revamped and refreshed user-interface that we have come to expect from an iOS 7 app.
We think it's safe to say that Rockstar's latest addition to the Grand Theft Auto gaming franchise has been an unrivalled success. The hype surrounding the release of GTA 5 was at an all time high when the title eventually went on sale last month. The game reportedly cost Rockstar more than $250 million to create, but managed to recoup more than $1 billion in opening weekend sales, which speaks for itself. So how could this year's best game actually get any better? Well, it probably couldn't, but an earlier version could allow gamers to hook up a Google Glass wearable to compliment the experience.
If you've managed to get your hands on Apple's new duo of iPhones and are experiencing difficulties with the devices, then the Californian giants have you covered. As part of their efforts to continuously improve the levels of service that they offer and seamlessly integrate their products into our lives, Apple has updated their iPhone section of the Apple.com website to include tips and tricks on how to get the best out of different aspects of an iPhone.
The announcement of Steve Ballmer's retirement and the multi-billion dollar acquisition of Nokia has managed to keep the roller-coaster ride - that is modern Microsoft - ticking along nicely. Today brings some fresh and positive news regarding the Windows operating system. Microsoft's latest iteration of Windows will be officially launching around the world on October 18th, but customers can make sure they get Windows 8.1 at the earliest opportunity with pre-orders of the OS now available.
Apple has managed to pull off the recent introduction of iOS 7 without too many issues. The initial traffic from user downloads managed to cause a small amount of server downtime in the first few hours of availability, but other than that, it has been relatively plain sailing for the Californian giants. It's probably unreasonable to expect that a major overhaul of an operating system would launch without any service affecting bugs at all, and those iOS 7 converts who have been experiencing iMessage related issues should soon see a permanent fix winging its way to their device through an over-the-air update.
The iPhone 5s was yet another launch in the company's history that almost immediately became unavailable, with consumers seeing October as the next available shipping date. This year's introduction of offering iPhone 5s at a local Apple Retail Store pickup proved extremely popular with iPhone fans but stock levels - or the lack thereof - meant that the new option was almost instantly removed from Apple's site. It now seems that some consumers are reporting that the local pickup option is now available again through the official Apple Online Store.
A recently created official Apple support document that outlines a newly implemented Apple TV setup process is managing to draw quite a bit of attention. It outlines on how to set up a third-generation Apple TV unit by using an iOS 7 running device by a simple tap.
