Chances are you were glued to the various live blogs of yesterday's WWDC keynote just as we were, watching and waiting for what new hotness his Steveliness would bestow upon us. While we got oodles and oodles of new toys and features, there was a section of the Apple community sat patiently waiting to see if their older devices would get to join in all the fun. Oliver Haslam has written about technology for over a decade. His work has been published in print at Macworld and online pretty much everywhere else. If it plugs in or has a battery, it's fair game.
One of the much anticipated announcements to come out of WWDC 2011's opening keynote was Apple's new iCloud service. In an effort to bring Angry Birds to the few people who aren't already addicted, the game's creators Rovio have released a native Windows version for just $5.
Remember that Call of Duty Elite subscription based multiplayer that we told you about? Well it's kinda-sorta live, and you can sign up for the beta right now!
Independent developers have a finite amount of time in which to put together their smartphone apps, and they obviously want to get the maximum return on their work. Taking their Android apps and porting them across to iOS is certainly a time consuming practice, assuming the particular developer has the technical know-how to do the work.
While few would argue that Windows 7 was a considerable improvement over its predecessor, Vista, the current version of Microsoft's desktop operating system still finds itself missing one key feature - it just doesn't play well with touch. In an interview with AllThingsD's Ina Fried, Microsoft showed off some of the new touch-inspired improvements in Windows 8, aimed at bringing the operating system a much needed shot in the arm when it comes to taking on Apple's iOS devices.
