Although, thanks to the most recent major update, the iOS home screen isn’t as boring and uneventful as before, it still draws criticism for its one-dimensional nature and general lack of customizability. Even with a jailbreak, you’re never quite going to be able to enjoy the eclectic mix of launchers, widgets and multiple home screens a la Android, but thanks to the recent work of Evad3rs, you can bring a little bit of life to your home screen. Random Icon Flip, as you will probably have gathered, will flip random icons around for no other reason than aesthetic enjoyment, and although it is almost as pointless as it sounds, does help to rejuvenate the otherwise monotonous view. Originally released back in 2011, the tweak now has received an update, bringing with it support for iOS 7, Apple’s latest and greatest mobile OS.

The number of larger iPad, or so-called 'iPad Pro' reports have been aplenty over the past six or so months, and a new piece over at DigiTimes, which claims that Apple is aiming to drop the 12.9-inch slab by the third quarter of this year, only serves to fuel this burning fire. Once upon a time, the blogosphere would have laughed at any notion of Apple delivering a slate so much larger than the full-sized iPad Air, but the iPad mini has shown that under Tim Cook, anything is apparently possible, and the iPad Pro will serve as the higher-end option for consumers seeking the ultimate performance.
A Californian woman found herself the subject of litigation and national attention after having been caught and handed over ticket for driving whilst using Google’s Glass, but despite not being punished by court, the law remains ambiguous as to whether drivers can wear the search giant’s face computer. 42-year-old Cecilia Abadie shared the news of her now-revoked ticket via social media, but while she has been let off by judge for driving 85mph in her Toyota Prius while wearing Glass, it remains to be seen whether the act of using Glass while driving is actually against the law.
According to a report from Bloomberg, HTC is working on an updated and refreshed version of its flagship One handset. The Taiwanese electronics manufacturer released the device in the spring of last year to much critical acclaim, and with the shelf life of most smartphones now seldom exceeding the twelve month mark, the company is looking to consolidate its re-emergence amongst the big boys in the mobile market.
Love them or loathe them, you cannot escape Internet memes. They're everywhere, and this is sue in no small part to sites like Imgur. The image hosting service has sought to turn itself from a simple storage hub to the YouTube of viral images, and has, to some degree, succeeded thus far. The Imgur iOS app has been around for a while now, allowing mobile users to continue browsing, posting, rating and commenting on their favorite images and memes, and now, the meme generation facility has just arrived for iOS. Nokia's supposed attempt at a mid-range Android handset, something that has been in the offing for quite a while now, was thrown into serious doubt after the Lumia maker was purchased by Microsoft late last year. But recent leaks have given us reason to believe that a device codenamed Normandy will indeed be the first from Nokia to run a variant of Google's flagship mobile OS. I say a variant because, from what we've seen, the interface is heavily modded to the point where it looks very much like the love-child of Windows Phone and Asha. Today, we've been treated to an even closer look thanks to press images from the ever-reliant Evleaks Twitter handle, and as well as that, we now have semi-confirmation of when Nokia will showcase Normandy.
The advantages of rooting an Android device - as well as some of the drawbacks - have been well documented in many a post here at Redmond Pie. But if you have decided to enter the Dark Side, as it were, you'll be more than aware that both management and all-in-one tools can be invaluable in terms of getting the most from your hacking and modding endeavors.
The PlayStation 4 and Xbox One may both have sold well in their first couple of months (although some fared notably better than others), but while many gamers like to flock to stores and get their shiny new consoles in early, some wait for special edition models of both console and peripheral. These can take various forms, although tend to be offered as part of a promotion of a big new title , and with Titanfall on the horizon, the game's makers have collaborated with Microsoft to deliver a very nifty looking limited edition controller for the Xbox One.
While Dropbox has been offering its cloud storage services for a good few years now, things are a lot more crowded with the big names in tech chiming in with their own efforts. Microsoft's SkyDrive, Google Drive, and Apple iCloud have all emerged over the past couple of years, but despite their presence, the smaller companies continue to plug away for a piece of that pie. Box is one such service, and has really thrown down the gauntlet to its overbearing competitors by announcing 50GB of free storage to those on iOS. The promotion, which is in celebration of the app's recent iOS 7-ification, can be obtained by anybody with an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch, so if you're interested, check out the details after the leap!
Although the improvements made to smartphone cameras over the last few years has enabled anyone and everyone to try their hand at becoming a photographer / director, this wealth of technology in the hands of amateurs can, and often does, produce disastrous results.
