The native Camera app for iOS is bundled with a decent supply of features, but it's still lacking in many key areas. Google Play is a content portal used by tens of millions on a daily basis, but while it's packed to the gills with many great, and many not-so-great apps and games, it remains a work in progress. A common gripe, especially among concerned parents, is that there's no strict age ratings system in place, and since regulations vary from country to country, the Play Store has been a bit of a free-for-all at times. Now, though, the Big G has introduced a new age-ratings system that adheres specifically to the country or location that an account is based in, and the company has also revealed that its app moderation / approval process now includes human beings.

Even before now, Windows 10 was shaping up as one heck of an improvement over Windows 8, which has divided opinion at every opportunity since first arriving in 2012. Today, however, the software giant has taken the wraps off one of its most exciting features yet in the form of Windows Hello, a biometric authentication system that will permit a user to sign in securely by facial recognition and fingerprint sensing.
Google announced that its annual I/O developer gathering would commence from May 28th in San Francisco, running through to the end of the 29th. The Big G also revealed that registrations for the event would take place from March 17th, which is today, and if you want to register for the raffle-based system that will draw randomly-selected attendees once signups close later on in the week, check the details after the fold.
The App Store, Google Play, and Windows Store have spawned many great new titles and series for mobile devices, and also, overseen plenty of remakes and ports of old classics. From Sonic CD to Tetris, retro gaming has enjoyed something of a renaissance in recent times, but one company has been conspicuous by its absence. Nintendo, maker of many iconic games including the much-loved Super Mario, has hitherto opted to pit its faith in its DS series of handheld consoles. But now, it seems, the Japanese outfit is finally ready to cave.
