Apple’s AirPods 4 To Get Revamped Design And Active Noise Cancellation

Apple’s 2024 lineup of products continues to look more and more interesting following the news that the company is reportedly ready to refresh the AirPods wireless earbuds.

Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says that Apple’s upcoming AirPods 4 product will come in two versions at two different price points.

The new AirPods Pro will have a refreshed design and appear to be a cross between the standard AirPods 3 and AirPods Pro, but featuring shorter stems.

In terms of features, a redesigned charging case should be expected with speakers for improved Find My features. A USB-C port is an obvious addition, while the higher-end version of the AirPods 4 will feature active noise cancellation technology. The move will mean that ANC capabilities will be offered in non-Pro AirPods for the first time.

But Apple has a solution: two new fourth-generation non-Pro models that have updated designs, redesigned cases and USB-C charging. The upper-end version of the two models will include active noise cancellation, bringing that feature to a lower price point.

Alongside the updated AirPods, Apple will reportedly also update the AirPods Max with a new USB-C port and likely new colors, although bigger changes are not expected this time around.

As for timings, Gurman didn’t get into specifics, only saying that the new AirPods 4 and updated AirPods Max will arrive in 2024.
