If you’re in the market for a new MacBook or iPad, now is a bad time to place an order. That’s after Apple CEO Tim Cook hinted at a new product launch coming this week.
Cook took to the X social network to share a short video that confirmed “There’s Something in the Air”. Cook’s post simply said that something would be happening “this week.”
This follows a similar teaser that arrived last month ahead of the iPhone 16e’s announcement. As for what will be announced this week, we’ve seen persistent rumors that a new M4 MacBook Air would arrive soon which suggests that this will be the product unveiled soon.
However, it’s also possible that Apple could refresh the iPad Air as well, so it’s far from cut and dried at this point.
That being said, a new MacBook Air seems the most likely, with the M4 chip set to be the biggest new addition to the 13- and 15-inch laptops. Buyers can also look forward to Thunderbolt 4 ports and improved battery life, while there might also be a tweak in the colors that are offered as well.
As for the iPad Air, a launch soon is expected regardless of what happens later this week while a new AirTag is also a potential new announcement. The rumored iPhone 17 Air is unlikely to be involved though — we expect that to be announced at the usual September iPhone event this fall.
