Many people myself included experience the 1600 error message why trying to restore with the custom firmware.

Does the updated application have any changes to help address this problem.

YES, bring on the updates… interestingly enough, I sn0wbreezed my (iPhone 3G 3.1.3 (7E18) 5.12.01 Bootloader v. 06.04) with ease. Reason Bootloader is so new, is because I just recently got a new 3G from the Apple Store to replace my old one that was having headphone port issues. Btw, word to the wise, DO NOT get ANY type of MOISTURE in that headphone port, else your water sensor will be tripped and your warranty will be voided!

FYI, it seems snowbreeze crashes if you choose a custom logo when generating the IPSW. Uncheck this if it does and the IPSW will be generated properly.

As of yet, Sn0wbreeze will NOT work for iPhone 3GS new bootrom/new MC if you've already upgraded to official 3.1.3. I've tried it on 2 iPhone 3GS so far and I get error 1600 when in DFU mode, and error 1604 when in recovery. Its the kind of error you get when the baseband is not supported by the custom firmwire; Because upgrading using official 3.1.3 will install the newest baseband..

That said, I'm not sure if this will work if you have a 3GS new bootrom/MC running on 3.1.2 on the previous baseband. I definitely wouldn't want to risk it and try that through, 3.1.3 is a crappy update that brings nothing new whatsoever. If you're on 3.1.2, stay on 3.1.2.

In theory, iREB disables the errors that iTunes makes (like 1600 and 1604 that I got) giving some hope to jailbreak 3.1.3 3GS new bootrom/MC . Sadly though, iREB doesn't support iPhone 3GS. So if you manage to get that to work, do share with us!

If you want to jailbreak 3G/3GS 3.1.3 on 5.12.01; Just try the step below to the end, before complainting that it don't work. I'm on 3GS 3.1.3 05.12.01, Jailbreak.

1. Backup
2. Restore using (google) Firmware 3.1.2. You will get an error, Unplug and plug back to computer and you will see “connect to itunes” on your iphone. It's fine.
3. Run Redsn0w 0.9.4 using Firmware 3.1.2. (google)
4. Use sn0wbreeze to create custom firmware or any custom firmware. Done!

khmerchaos, I assume your phone was previously jailbreaked. I am only new to iphone myself and recently purchased one with firmware 1.3.1 on 5.12.01 and bootrom 359.3.2 Will this procedure work for my phone or will there be more waiting yet for a solution. Thanks for any comments!

If you have a 3GS what you can do is when you are trying to install the 3.1.3 custom firmware, instead of going into DFU mode, just continue holding down power and the home button until your phone has the RECOVERY MODE wallpaper, then iTunes will say it detected your phone in recovery mode, click ok, shift click restore, choose the custom firmware, and it will work. I was getting unknown error 1600 everytime I tried to fix it and saw someone else's post on here (although not very detailed) and tried it and worked. it actually unbricked my phone cuz it wouldn't turn on :p

I have a iPhone 16GB 3Gs MC Model at the moment running on 3.1.2 (Facotry) Modem Firmware 5.11.07. It was already jailbroken through blackra1n and i used Spirit on it without knowing it was already jailbroken. Now it's stuck in DFU mode. I've tried to Restore is with the file 3.1.2 with iTunes but i wouldnt allow me.

Can i use Sn0wbreeze V1.5.2 to create a Custom 3.1.3 file to upgrade from 3.1.2 but keeping my Modem Firmware as 5.11.07 since i have to unlock it so i can jailbreak and Unlock my iPhone 3GS 16GB MC Model. Also i DO NOT have the SHSH or ECID files saved on from Cydia.

Am using Itunes 9 i tried all i have create the ipsw file now i can't use itune to unlock it each time i click on the device on the side bar of itune is takes me to Itunes and returns a message that say the SIM card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported. and blah blah blah……what do i do now ? i have a 3gs with an old bootroom. the problem is i accidentally update the phone with 3.1.3 via itunes. and after update my phone – lock.

i did check my iboot , which is the bootrom version is still old bootrom.

so now how to jb my phone?
