why ipod touch 3g not in the jailbreak list?

i have ipod touch 3g 8gb,-i know its realy a 2g,but it comes up with a message like the one youve got,i have never jailbroken before and in the about on my ipod it says the model is a mc but on the back of the ipod it doesnt have mc,and how do i jailbreak it as i upgraded to os4 as soon as it was available to download

So i can upgrade if i have my Ipod Touch 3g 8 gig (MC model) if its already jailbroken?

Its technically 2nd gen since 64 and 32 gigs are the actuall 3g.

my understanding is that i have to make a custom firmware file with sn0wbreeze then restore to it with itunes, but would that get rid of anything at all?

hi…i bought a new ipod touch 2g wich has come wid ios4 nd i can't downgrade to 3.1.2 for the jailbreak coz there is some error while sending information to cydia telling that there is no information about this model!!plz help….can i jailbreak widout downgrade??

if you have Windows , click on the file then press F2 , then rename .zip to .ipsw

I had same problem with 3.1.3, i tried using a different version to restore and it worked, its probably the Ipsw fault, use a different source.

hold home and power button at same time till it restarts keep holding it until u see a connect to itunes then let go. After that go on itunes and click on the device name and restore then its fixed

I did everything you said and then i restored it using the custom firmware and it worked at first and it took a while saying preparing iPod for restore and then it gave me error message 1604. I dont really know what to do know!!!

it is updating to current firmware, e.g. from 3.1.2 to 3.1.3 and current is ios4.0

rumor is new spirit will come out end of the month and should be able to jailbreak all model.

In your Settings>General>About there should be a model number. The first 2 characters should be Mb or Mc, depending on the time you bought it.

Doesn't work for me. I have a MB model, not even MC iPod Touch 2G, and iTunes gives me an error when I restore it. It says it is not valid. Got two errors, 2005 and 1006.

Guys, you know what, don't even use this method. RedSn0w works perfectly. I used redsn0w_win_0.9.5b5-3 to do it. This method is seriously a piece of shit, it never works, I got at least 3 different errors when restoring. Redsn0w worked instantly and easily. (Minus the annoying DFU mode thing.) If you can follow instructions, you get it to work.

I have no clue, but I can basically say that red snow does a way better job of patching the IPSW file, because sn0wbreeze gave me an error on at least 4 separate times and iTunes could not let me update with it with various error reports. Redsn0w worked on the first try. I say give it a whirl, I believe it will work with your 3G better than my 2G if anything.
