You Can Now Turn Any Speaker Into An AirPlay 2 Speaker With The Belkin Soundform Connect

Belkin today announced a new accessory that can turn any standard speaker into an AirPlay 2-compatible one.

Priced at $99.99, the Soundform Connect dongle connects via a 3.5mm input and works with iPhones, iPads, and Macs.

The new dongle is available to purchase right now and Belkin describes it as a simple adapter that turns speakers into HomeKid speakers.

Once the SOUNDFORM Connect is connected to any powered speaker or sound system with an optical or 3.5mm input, a user can simply tap the AirPlay icon on their compatible Apple device to start playing music or other audio. With AirPlay 2–enabled speakers, users can ask Siri via their iPhone to play their favorite music or podcasts throughout the house, ask what’s playing in each room, control the volume, and more. The adapter enables the speakers to be compatible with HomeKit, making it easy to assign them to different rooms and create scenes and automations in the Home app.

Because it’s small, the Soundform Connect can be tucked away behind a speaker or other equipment and it’s likely most people will never know it’s there. Power is handled via USB-C connection, too.

This could be a great way to turn your existing stereo gear into smart speakers, especially if you don’t want to switch to something like Apple’s discontinued HomePod.

You can buy the device over at Belkin for $99.99 right now.
