WhatsApp For iPad Screenshots Leaked, Coming Soon

Facebook-owned WhatsApp is reportedly working on the idea of introducing an official iPad version. If this turns out to be true, those iPad owners who have been using a web app workaround, or using the iPhone version windowed, will be saved from that messaging torture.

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used messaging apps in the world with in excess of 1 billion people using it on a daily basis to communicate with one another, send media back and forth, and even to make audio and video calls over the Internet.

All of this functionality is currently accessed from smartphones across multiple platforms as well as via web and desktop apps, the latter of which are essentially wrappers for the web experience. Now, website WABetaInfo is reporting that the company is about to roll out a dedicated iPad version of the app.

Not just that, it has also leaked a couple of screenshots showing us just what the users can expect when the iPad update rolls out.

The information coming in from WABetaInfo sugges that an iPad version would largely contain the same set of features that are already present in Android and iPhone versions of the messaging app.

It would, however, come with its own unique user-interface designed to take advantage of the larger screen real estate that the iPad has and could feature a Split Screen style design, similar to what is found in Apple’s native Settings app. It could also be possible for users to monitor and interact with multiple chats at any given time.

The Facebook-owned business has been putting the platform through a lot of changes recently, with the most notable being the push to rollout WhatsApp for Business allowing business to seamlessly connect and communicate with customers and potential customers. It stands to reason that business users could make use of tablets like iPad on a daily basis, which adds further fuel to the speculation that a dedicated iPad version could be coming.

Currently, there is no time given for this release but the website is suggesting that the iPad version could be available as soon as the next major WhatsApp release. Watch this space, folks!
