The Nintendo Switch 2 Is Finally Official And You Can See it Right Here

After all the rumors and most recently, the leaks, the Nintendo Switch 2 is now official although we still don’t know all that much about it. Nintendo announced the game console by sharing a teaser video on its social media channels.

The video didn’t give any firm information on when the Switch 2 will be released or where, but it did say that it will arrive in 2025.

We also now know that there will be a Switch 2-focused Direct on April 2, 2025. We can likely expect that Nintendo will take that opportunity to share information on what the console will be capable of, what’s changed from the original Switch, and when we can expect that it will be made available to buy.

While Nintendo didn’t go into too many details, we can glean some information from the video starting with the fact that the new Joy-Copns appear to attach to the side of the Switch 2 via magnets and a new connector. Red and blue Joy-Cons are shown in the video, but we can expect that other colors will also be available in due course.

Other aspects worth noting include a new, larger display and a much bigger and likely more sturdy kickstand. Again, we don’t know figures so there is no telling just how big the display will be when the Switch 2 is released.

If you’re in New York, Los Angeles, or Dallas you’ll be able to take a Switch 2 for a spin in April with Nintendo set to make ticket registration available on its website starting January 17th at 3PM ET.
