The Apple Pencil 3 Tipped For New Interchangeable Magnetic Tips

Apple’s rumored to be ready to announce new iPads within the next few days, but the latest rumor is about the biggest accessory any iPad owner is likely to want — the Apple Pencil.

According to a report by the Japanese website MacOtakara, Apple is getting ready to announce a new Apple Pencil to go with its new tablets, complete with the same interchangeable magnetic tips that we’d previously seen rumored by X leaker Majin Bu.

MacOTAKARA believes that “Apple Pencil 3” with an interchangeable magnetic chip will be released, as Majin Bu posted on X, rather than an update of the iPad itself.

As a swift reminder, Bu shared details last month when saying that Apple was working on an Apple Pencil 3 that would have interchangeable magnetic tips for choosing different types of effects when the tip touches the iPad’s display. One tip could be bigger than another and may be used for painting, for example.

A super-fine tip might be used for drawing, while one somewhere in the middle might be best used when writing notes. All of that would allow people more flexibility than is currently offered.

Apple is thought to be ready to announce a new iPad, iPad mini, and iPad Air as soon as tomorrow depending on who you believe, although there won’t be a big unveiling event — instead, Apple will announce the tablets via press release and videos posted to the company’s YouTube channel.
