Tesla Launches “Lunar Silver” Paint Option For Model S And Model X

If you’re buying a new Tesla Model S or Model X and like a nice shade of silver, you have a new option to consider.

Tesla has started to offer the Model S and Model X in Lunar Silver, a new paint option that costs an additional $2,500.

The new color is described by Tesla as a “clean silver with a pronounced metallic effect and subtle blue tint.” It’s a shinier finish than the ones we’re familiar with across Tesla’s lineup. Teslarati suggests that the new color is a result of the Fremont Factory’s paint shop capabilities.

It’s also thought to not be as deep as the Quicksilver finish that is available on Model Y vehicles built at the Giga Berlin and Giga Shanghai facilities. The new color is also slightly cheaper.

In as much as Quicksilver features a deeper shade compared to the Model S and Model X’s Lunar Silver paint option, it should be noted that the former costs €2,600 ($2,800), while Lunar Silver is more affordable at $2,500, at least in the United States.

Silver does appear to be making something of a comeback and it’s possible that the Cybertruck is the main driver behind that. The EV truck is famously only available in the silver color of its metal panels and it’s possible that Tesla’s newfound love of silver could be as a result of that fact.
