About 20 days back, we told you about the entertainment giant’s plans to go digital only, thriving in the world of online subscriptions and specifically aiming for getting a spot in the digital space. The network at that time claimed that it will go live on the digital platforms February 24th, and we promised that we’ll remind you when that happens. Well, it’s here – the moment is live – and WWE now resides on the Apple TV, iOS, Android, PlayStation, Xbox and the Web.

The fortunes of Apple TV have completely transformed during the past year or so, with the Cupertino’s set-top box having been dragged from relative obscurity to now being a serious contender in the battle for supremacy in the ever-evolving TV market. The World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) has just announced WWE Network, a 24/7 streaming service. Wrestling fans with a passion for late nights will be particularly pleased about this announcement as it effectively allows subscribers to sit in front of the WWE’s superstars on a 24-hour basis for a relatively small monthly outlay. The subscription based service will be billed at $9.99 per month and will require a minimum six month commitment from those wanting to get in on the action in the United States.

Microsoft has worked tirelessly over the past few years to try and turn its flagship Xbox 360 console into an all-round entertainment system. Once a hub for hardcore gamers to get their kicks, Xbox LIVE is now awash with various type of content, and adding to the ever-growing plethora of streaming media available comes something for wrestling fans worldwide to get reasonably excited about. World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) will now begin showing pay-per-view events to those with an Xbox LIVE Gold membership subscription, and although details are pretty scarce at this point, it’s a pretty big coup for both parties involved. I used to be a big fan of professional wrestling back in the day. I used to spare fours hours a week, every week (no matter if I was having final exams) for SmackDown and RAW. That was until I realized how stupid the idea of men fighting each other in front of a large audience was. Why not fight elsewhere? Why create a fuss in front of the public? I still kept watching, though, because it was so gosh darn fun to see two muscly men beat the living life out of each other.
