Motorola has joined Samsung to pour more salt on Apple’s iPhone 4 wounds. In a new Droid X ad which appeared today in the New York Times, Motorola laid the smack-down on both Apple and iPhone 4 by taking on the whole antennagate with its new slogan “No Jacket Required”.
If his recent Facebook activity has to be believed, than Facebook’s founder and CEO might have just ditched his iPhone for Android. It was only last month when Mark made the headlines for switching to iPhone (it was 3GS, not iPhone 4) from BlackBerry. But the experience wasn’t all that great as he posted about his frustrations with the device, citing poor battery life, and phone calling quality. He also said that he will get the new iPhone 4 and see if that solves all his problems before switching to Android.
Apple has just released iOS 4.1 Beta 2 for all iPhones and iPod touches. This beta build, like all the previous betas is meant for developers only. Only members enrolled in the iPhone Developer Standard or Enterprise Program can access these bits of by signing into Apple Developer Connection.
Yesterday, a court in United States ruled jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones as 100 percent legal as long as it does not violate any copyright laws. This decision was a blow for Apple who has always been against jailbreaking of iPhones. When asked about this ruling, Apple at the moment at least has adopted defensive strategy, saying that jailbreaking may have been declared as legal but it will still void your iPhone’s warranty with Apple.
The United States government today has announced that jailbreaking and unlocking iPhones, rooting of Android phones and ripping DVDs (for educational purposes) is completely legal as long as they are not violating copyright law. Jailbreaking and Unlocking of iPhones has never been illegal, it was just that Apple had strict policies right from the start which prohibited users from installing apps on their device which were not approved by Apple, along with locking the phone so that it can be used on one carrier only.
PwnageTool bundle to jailbreak iOS 4.0.1 on iPhone 3GS has been released. You can use this bundle with existing version of PwnageTool to create custom firmware files which are jailbroken and hacktivated for iPhone 3GS. The best thing about this bundle is that it supports both the ultrasn0w unlock and hacktivation. But as always, this bundle is meant for iPhone 3GS with old bootrom only. Those of you who are with new bootrom will have to wait for Comex’s new Spirit like jailbreak tool which should be released real soon.
According to recent tweets from members of iPhone Dev-Team, the all new ultrasn0w which has been written again from scratch for unlocking iPhone 4 is all set and ready. The wait now is probably for comex to package and release the new all iOS device jailbreak so that this new ultrasn0w can be released for iPhone 4.

In Q3 of fiscal year 2010, Apple has reported a record 78 % increase in earnings. Apple, which is the most valuable technology company in the U.S. and the second most valuable U.S. company overall has reported earnings of $3.51 per diluted share which is significantly higher than the $3.11 per share estimates from Wall Street analysts. With these statistics, the company once again has broken its own previous records, this time reporting an extraordinary $15.7 billion in revenue and a net quarterly profit of $3.35 billion.
