Google no longer supports Exchange ActiveSync protocol to sync email, contacts and calendar stored on free Gmail / Google IDs with third party apps. If you have setup Google Sync via Exchange on your iPhone before Jan 30th of this year, you wouldn’t notice any problem, until you reset the device and try to setup your account using EAS again. Also, if you try to setup Google Sync on a brand new iOS device, you will be greeted with “Cannot get mail, the connection to the server failed” message.

Android users welcomed an unexpected update to the Gmail app yesterday that added a number of critical and much requested features to the software. The development team over at Google have today pushed the button on the 1.2.7812 update for their iOS Gmail application and with it comes a number of improvements, feature upgrades and user-interface changes that have been specifically requested by Gmail users. The official iOS Gmail client has come in for quite a bit of criticism since its launch due to the fact that some feel it is little more than a wrapper for the web service and does not offer a true native experience, something Google hopes the update will help with.

Well, it's about time! Gmail for iPhone is said to be in its later stages of review in the App Store. According to MG Siegler, the app is scheduled for release any-day now and comes with those helpful little push notifications.

Two days ago, Google+ was introduced to the world as Google's new social networking endeavor. It featured a new look that was rather uncharacteristic of Google: a dark toolbar and orange buttons. It now turns out that all sites under the Google brand will be getting the new look, starting with Gmail, which now has a Google+ skin.
