Rockstar Games' Grand Theft Auto 5 well and truly blew every previous video game release out of the water with its record-smashing release in late 2013. Having been pushed back from spring until September, the publisher teased some slick visuals at every opportunity throughout last year, and when it dropped, hordes of gamers went out to pick it up. Shortly after, though, both the PS4 and Xbox One hit the scene, with Rockstar promising that an updated and enhanced version would arrive for the two major consoles as well as PC, and now, we have firm dates for each. Details, as ever, can be seen below.
Dong Nguyen, whose .GEARS Studio developed the famed Flappy Bird title for iOS and Android, has come through with a follow-up title that, on first play, seems every bit as tedious and frustrating as Nguyen's smash-hit title. Rolling out for iOS and Android, Swing Copters is not so much tricky as infuriating, and given that Nguyen claimed to have pulled Flappy Bird due to the stress it was causing gamers, this new title looks set to raise heart and blood pressure levels all over again.
The Pokémon World Championships - which are apparently a real thing - are currently taking place at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C and while it's no doubt an absolute blast for those who like that kind of thing, we're not sure it's really our cup of tea. That being said though, our ears tend to prick up when we hear about new iPad games, so the idea of a Pokémon game coming to Apple's tablet had us interested.
Alienware, the American computer hardware outfit owned by Dell Inc., has announced that its first Steam Machine will be available for the public to get its hands on in November. The Alienware Alpha looks likely to be the first commercially available Steam Machine when it launches, but rather than being built on top of Valve's SteamOS, the Alpha hardware will be reliant on Microsoft's Windows 8.1 operating system. The curiosities doesn’t stop there either as Alienware looks to penetrate the PC gaming market with a Steam Machine that is likely to differ vastly from the initial crop that hit the market.
When EA announced its Access service a few weeks ago, everyone stood up and took notice. While the folks at Sony apparently didn't think it was a big deal, those on the limited beta felt otherwise. Now, as of today, that beta has given way to a full service that is available to anyone in the United States who owns an Xbox One that's connected to the Internet.
The Battlefield series is among the foremost in the modern gaming industry, and if you've been tempted to try out Battlefield 4, now's your best opportunity in which to do so. For one week, the title will be available to play for free via Origin Game Time, and we've got all of the specific details right here.
Forrest Gump, which stars Hollywood legend Tom Hanks, is one of those movies that almost everybody has seen. But while we collectively appreciate the heart-warming storyline, it doesn't strike us as the kind of flick that should be turned into a mobile game. Sure, most new movies are now arriving with a supplementary title - usually by Gameloft - to enhance the overall experience and sense of excitement, but Forrest Gump? Really?
Last week, Crazy Taxi: City Rush was rolled out to those rocking an iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. The title, designed specifically for mobile rather than being a port of one of the old classics, has enjoyed a bright start since making its début over at the App Store, and fashionably late, the Android version has just arrived over at the Google Play Store. Details, as well as the download link, can be seen after the fold.
Even though SEGA focuses its attention on the games as opposed to the hardware nowadays, the company's Dreamcast console lives fondly in the memory of those who had the pleasure of playing it. One of the most popular titles to land on SEGA's last major console effort was Crazy Taxi, which tasked the player to pick up as many fares as they could within a set time while also pulling off various stunts. Like many games of times passed, Crazy Taxi has since been ported through to mobile devices, and after a successful run-out, Crazy Taxi: City Rush is now available to those rocking an iPhone or iPad.
With the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, it was inevitable that a title for mobile devices would follow suit, and the accompanying game of the same name as the film has just hit the download channels for iOS and Android.
