There are plenty of new features purported to be arriving with the next iPhone device, and one of them is the smaller dock connector. Meanwhile, the smaller iPad (or larger iPod touch, depending on which way you look at things), is also said to be arriving shortly after the sixth Apple smartphone, and although details regarding that particular device are a little less vivid, it will undoubtedly house the smaller dock connector also.

We are fast approaching the business end of Apple’s sixth-generation iPhone release schedule, and if sources and intuition proves to be serving us correctly, then we should be getting our first official glimpse of the new piece of Apple hardware on September 12th. Apple is yet to officially come out and confirm that the event is happening, but a number of indicators seem to have given the game away with the extremely familiar Moscone Center in San Francisco looking likely to be the chosen venue.

Over the last few weeks, we have been hearing numerous reports about the future of Apple hardware and the purported changes which Apple is planning to implement while going forward. One of those major changes is set to be revealed with the announcement of the next-generation iPhone, is the move away from the existing 30-pin dock connector to a smaller connection that is reportedly going to be a 19-pin setup. The change in connector on the iPhone makes perfect sense considering they want to move the headphone socket to the bottom of the device, but if the latest reports that are surfacing are true, then we could be introduced to the new 19-pin connection on all iOS devices in one swoop.

It has only been a matter of hours since the online media brought news that Apple is intending to introduce a new dock connection setup with the release of the next-generation iPhone, likely to be introduced to the world in October of this year. Various outlets, including ourselves, have reported that Apple is intending to reduce space required for connections on the bottom of the new iPhone by doing away with the current 30-pin connection setup and introducing a new streamlined 19-pin connector port.

As time progresses, we are moving closer and closer to the eventual announcement and launch of the next-generation iPhone, Apple’s much anticipated update to their industry leading smartphone. As is usually the case with hardware evolution from the Cupertino giants, the rumor mill is starting to kick into overdrive with speculation flying around the world wide web about every aspect of the new device, ranging from its physical dimensions to the processors and camera units that will be embedded within.
