SuperSlider Lets You Launch An App Straight From Your iPhone’s Lock Screen [Jailbreak Tweak]

SuperSlider is a new jailbreak tweak that lets users launch an app of their choice straight from their iOS Lock Screen, without needing to unlock their device. This tweak embeds a new button into the "slide to unlock" slider and lets users access an app of their choice instantly.

This tweak was developed by California-based Akhil Tolani (@saltbox on Twitter) might be your new favorite time saver for your iOS device. We all know how painful it is to have to unlock the device, sometimes many times in a really short time, just to access an app. This jailbreak tweak will display a new icon within the "slide to unlock" slider, as you can see below:

Which app should be launched when you tap that button is totally up to you. Thanks to a new section in the iOS Settings app, users will be able to pick the application of their choice from a list of installed apps.

Once you do, the icon on the Lock Screen will open up the app of your choice. Any app should work well, although some report that Cydia won’t launch correctly from the Lock Screen, therefore there might be some exceptions. Overall, however, it should work as advertised.

There’s an interesting side effect as well. The unmodified unlock slider will automatically slide back to its original position unless it’s been slid all the way across. With SuperSlider, it will just stop where you left it. It’s an interesting, but likely unintentional, and a fix in a future version is likely.

You can follow our step by step guide to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch on iOS 4.3.3 using Redsn0w, PwnageTool and Sn0wbreeze. If you’re already using iOS 5 beta, you can jailbreak it using tools like Redsn0w (for Mac and Windows), or Sn0wbreeze. As with any non-Apple-approved modification, it’s recommended that you have basic skills on how to restore your device in case the process fails.

This tweak can be downloaded today from BigBoss repository on Cydia.
