Sony’s PS5 Pro Tipped For Holiday Launch And Huge Speed Boost

We’ve been hearing all kinds of rumors surrounding plans for Sony to launch a new PS5 Pro console of late and the latest report claims that the new console could arrive this holiday period. What’s more, it’s thought the console could boast some impressive speeds.

The report comes via an Insider Gaming report that includes the claim that previously leaked specifications are indeed correct.

According to the reports the new PS5 Pro will be capable of rendering speeds of up to 45% faster than the PS5 while we can expect up to 4x the ray-tracing performance. A custom machine learning architecture is also claimed while support for resolutions of up to 8K is planned, too.

As for devkits, it seems that they have been available for months.

Insider Gaming, who was also shared documentation from the developer portal under the condition that it’s not shared publicly or privately can also confirm that Devkits have been available to first-party studios since September 2023, third-party since January 2024, and from Spring 2024 Testkits will also be available which will be identical to the final product.

The report goes on to say that the PS5 Pro is currently set for a holiday 2024 release but that date could change depending on how many first-party games have been released by that time.

Previously reports had suggested that a November 2024 release was the aim, so that largely fits in with the holiday 2024 claims that we’re seeing now.
