There has been talk and rumors surrounding the eventual launch of the PS5 Pro of late, and a new report suggests that the updated console could arrive within months.
In fact, the idea appears to be to ensure that the PS5 Pro is an option for console gamers ahead of the release of one of gaming’s most hotly anticipated titles.
That title is of course Grand Theft Auto 6, a game that is set to launch in 2025 assuming there are no major delays. Now, a new report by CNBC claims that the rumored PS5 Pro could launch in late 2024 in order to ensure that it’s available ahead of GTA 6.
“There seems to be a broad consensus in the game industry that Sony is indeed preparing a launch of a PS5 Pro in the second half of 2024,” Serkan Toto, CEO of Tokyo-based games consultancy Kantan Games, told CNBC.
“And Sony will want to make sure to have a great piece of hardware ready when GTA VI hits in 2025, a launch that will be a shot in the arm for the entire gaming industry.
With this in mind, it seems likely that there could be a PS5 Pro model with GTA 6 bundled in, creating the perfect time for owners of older PS4 consoles to make the jump into the current generation of machines. If all of this turns out to be accurate, it’s possible that Sony could share news about the PS5 Pro in the second half of the year and then launch it in time for the busy holiday shopping season.
