Jailbreak iOS 17.3.1 On iPhone And iPad [Status Update]

Looking to jailbreak iOS 17.3.1 on your iPhone or iPad? Here is the latest status update.

Apple has today released the iOS 17.3.1 update to the public and while it doesn’t have any new features, it’s still worth installing. But what about those who want to jailbreak? Here’s the latest situation as we know it.

Jailbreaking isn’t as popular as it once was, partly because it simply isn’t as easy as it once was. Unfortunately, this update doesn’t change that.

Jailbreaking isn’t possible with the release of iOS 17.3.1 on modern devices, as has been the case with previous updates. As for those using older iPhones, the news isn’t much better. While the iPhone X has been jailbroken at the boot ROM level which means Apple can’t prevent people from jailbreaking, these devices don’t support the iOS 17.x updates anyway, so you’re completely out of luck.

The jailbreaking situation could change in the future, but that seems unlikely at this point in time. While a jailbreak for modern iPhones could arrive, there is little to suggest that will happen.

As for the update itself, it fixes a bug relating to duplicate text during text entry. We’d suggest that users install this update as soon as possible whether or not jailbreaking is something you’re interested in — there are few reasons not to update at this point and it’s always worth having the latest fixes installed at any given time.

Apple will likely preview iOS 18 during the WWDC event in June, with a release to the public likely to happen this fall.
