Rumored 2021 iPad Pro Will Come With mmWave 5G Support [Report]

Apple is rumored to be launching at least one new iPad Pro next year and it will come with the super-fast mmWave 5G built in, according to a new DigiTimes report.

We’re already expecting a combination of mini-LED and OLED iPad Pro models next year based on recent reports and now it seems that the fastest 5G connections will also be available, with Apple’s own mmWave AiP (antenna in package) parts to make the move over from next year’s Phones.

The self-sufficiency in design and development of AiP modules also means that Apple’s next-generation high-end ‌iPad‌ products to be released in 2021 may also come with mmWave technology, said the sources.

It isn’t clear which iPad Pro models would get the 5G support or indeed where they would be made available. Right now, the only country that gets mmWave 5G iPhones is the United States, with the rest of the world making do with the slower sub-6GHz version.

However, the options made possible by mmWave are insane, often competing with gigabit landline connections in terms of pure data speeds.

However, the number of locations able to enjoy mmWave connections is low, suggesting that Apple’s use of the technology isn’t all that useful to the vast majority of its userbase.
