RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 For iOS Released; Create The Amusement Park Of Your Dreams! [VIDEO]

If iOS is your gaming platform of choice and old school desktop classics are your thing, then it looks like Atari has come good once again for you. The famous publishing company has filled a lot of gamers’ hearts with joy with ports of classics like Breakout and Centipede to the small screen. The Atari Greatest Hits app also managed to bring back feelings of excitement and nostalgia when it landed many moons ago. Not content with previous releases, Atari has done it again by bringing RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 to the App Store for iPhone and iPad devices.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 may be a new offering by Atari, but the underlying concept of the game remains the same as any other RollerCoaster Tycoon tiles that have come before it. Gamers are charged with the unenviable task of creating, managing and maintain an amusement park that will eclipse all parks that came before it. Building a successful theme park is about more than just erecting a roller coaster with multiple loops in the middle of the field. Rides of great variation, a good park layout and varied amenities all come together to produce something to be proud of.

The game itself features a total of 20 pre-designed rollercoasters with more than 50 different attraction types that are available to use throughout the park. Atari also had the foresight to develop and build in an extremely useful and powerful RollerCoaster editor that should ensure that users get the most out of the space that they have in the park when choosing to design and build a main attraction coaster. RollerCoaster Tycoon 4 follows the same pattern as a number of other games of this type in that it requires users to progress through levels to unlock additional materials and offerings.

It also follows the trend of building social connectivity as well as the ability to record and share gaming statistics to Game Center. The initial download of the game will set you back a meager $2.99 and comes with $5 of in-game currency. It won’t take you long to blow through that relatively small amount, and when you do Atari offer two in-app purchases that allow a boat load more coins to be purchased to be exchanged for in-game items.
