Paul Morris·October 19, 2012

JailbreakMe Superstar Comex No Longer Works For Apple

Paul Morris·October 19, 2012
It was undoubtedly a disappointing day for the jailbreak loving world when Nicholas Allegra (Comex) publicly announced his departure from the community as a result of accepting an internship at the company he had worked so hard to circumvent in the few years prior. We will never really know if producers of jailbreak tools and tweaks do so in the hope of becoming known by Apple and ultimately offered dream employment with the Cupertino company, but after a year working the fruit Company, Allegra is officially flying solo once again.

How To Transform OS X Notification Center Into An RSS Feed Reader

Ben Reid·October 19, 2012
When it comes to personalization of a user-interface, our first thoughts are usually directed to our mobile devices. Because they are in fact so personal, we - almost subconsciously - arrange every little segment exactly as we wish, tailoring the experience, and to a lesser degree, the same process is followed at desktop level.

Manually Update Galaxy Nexus To Android 4.1.2 [How To Tutorial]

Ben Reid·October 19, 2012
The Galaxy Nexus may now be a bit of a relic in comparison to the Galaxy S III and Galaxy Note II, but it still generates quite a bit of discussion amongst Android fans. The recent Jelly Bean 4.1.2 update, which has slowly but surely been trickling through to a large portion of Galaxy Nexus owners, has seen the once Ice Cream Sandwich-inclined smartphone thrust back into the news, and in the latest, those running "takju" iterations of the handset can now get their fill of 4.1.2.

Google Announces New $249 Samsung Chromebook

Ben Reid·October 19, 2012
Google's Chromebook hasn’t proved to be quite popular amongst the general consumer since first being announced at last year's I/O, and the Mountain View-based outfit has just announced a new addition to the roster. Sundar Pinchai, Senior VP of Chrome and Apps, has revealed the $249 kit for release next week, while special kiosks will begin popping up over 500 of the most heavily-populated Best Buy stores across the US to give prospective consumers a taster of what's on offer.

Cellular-Enabled Nexus 7 Could Be On The Horizon

Ben Reid·October 19, 2012
With a mighty quad-core processor, crisp high-def display and a svelte design and form-factor, the Nexus 7 is seen as a remarkable device for its low price point, but far from perfect, consumers looking to spend small on a tablet had skimp on a few perhaps desirable features.

How To Use Xbox 360 Wireless Controller With Nexus 7 Or Any Other Android Tablet [VIDEO]

Paul Morris·October 18, 2012
There could be multiple reasons why a person would want to purchase an Android powered tablet or smartphone and then go to the lengths of using a handheld gaming controller to interact with the on-screen content. Personally speaking, I could easily imagine that Jetpack Joyride would be exhilarating if touching the display was kicked out of the equation. Whatever the reason behind wanting to introduce a gaming controller, it is now possible to get an Xbox 360 wireless controller up and running with the fantastic Nexus 7 tablet.

Official Google Calendar App For Android Now Available To Download

Paul Morris·October 18, 2012
Google services and the Android mobile platform are in tune with one another, and as you might expect, the system does an extremely good job at pulling in information from any associated Google account and making that information available throughout system. Nothing is as easy as it should be with all Android devices, and in some instances manufacturers go solo with their bundled software, often overwriting native Google apps or burying certain frequently used apps in layers of settings. For those who want the official Google Calendar experience, it is now available to download on the Play Store.

Apple Loses Appeal Against UK Ruling That Said Samsung Did Not Copy iPad Design

Paul Morris·October 18, 2012
Apple might have had the most notable and high-profile win in the on-going patent battle with Samsung when a judge in San Jose ruled that more than $1 billion in damages were due to the company from Samsung, but it hasn't all been about victory for Apple who have had their fair share of patent related setbacks. One of the latest has come right from the United Kingdom where an Apple appeal to have an earlier ruling overturned has proven unsuccessful.
