Samsung Smart TV Exploit Allows Intruder To Remotely Activate Built-in Camera [VIDEO]

Paul Morris·August 5, 2013
The next time you sit down in front of your Samsung Smart TV to watch your favorite show, then it would probably be prudent to make sure you are suitably dressed. Word coming out of the Black Hat Conference is that certain Smart TV models are just like our intelligent smartphones, in that they are susceptible to outside attacks, specifically with the intention of the intruder accessing the built-in camera.

Samsung Unpacked 2013 Invites Sent Out, Confirms Galaxy Note 3 Unveil

Ben Reid·August 5, 2013
Late last week, it emerged that the Galaxy Note 3, along with - possibly - a Samsung-made smart watch, named Galaxy Gear, could finally be shown off to the world at a special event to be held on September 4th. Given that the date has changed frequently over the past couple of months, we were slightly apprehensive in counting our chickens, but the South Korean outfit has just handed out invitations to another Unpacked event on that very date. The company will also be holding another event the following day that will see some other product launches, and although a smart watch would perhaps be a long shot, the press is sure to speculate from here on out.

Galaxy Gear: Samsung’s Alleged Smart Watch Gets A Name, According To Trademark Filing

Paul Morris·August 5, 2013
The technology industry is an extremely vibrant and ever-growing space to be a part of. Innovation and coming up with different approaches to existing ideas is always an approach that is rewarded by consumers, but the market is also very reliant on trends and what is generally perceived to be the " in thing" at any particular time. Smartphones and tablets are looking likely to always be popular going forward, but companies are falling over themselves at the moment to penetrate the market with a so-called "smart watch". South Korean based Samsung Electronics are no different with a recent trademark filing confirming that their in-development wrist wear will be released under the Galaxy Gear name, which has been commonly known as the Galaxy Smart Watch for quite a while.

The Ultimate Guide To Creating The Perfect Jailbroken iPhone Setup [VIDEO]

Tom Richardson·August 5, 2013
With the release of iOS 7 soon to be upon us, many of the core reasons to jailbreak your device are now integrated right into iOS itself. Things such as quick toggles, and improved multi-tasking functionality have been seen to by Apple; but it just doesn't have the same appeal of being able to do it ourselves. Thousands of jailbreak packages are available within the Cydia software distribution service, and they're certainly not going anywhere.

Mavericks Mini: OS X Mavericks Theme For iPhone Now Available [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·August 4, 2013
It has long since been noted that the once clear distinction between OS X, Apple's desktop OS, and iOS, the company's mobile firmware, has been blurred over the past couple of years, and Mountain Lion, the current latest official version of OS X, is certainly a testament to that notion with its implementation of features like iMessage and Notification Center. Despite the growing list of similarities between the two, they remain aesthetically like night and day, but if you're keen to bring that desktop look and feel to your iPhone, a new OS X Mavericks 10.9 theme has you covered.

Aatif·August 4, 2013

Now, Macotakara has posted a leaked video that shows in much better detail the front and back panels of what could most likely be the new, rumored “budget” iPhone. Video just past the jump.

President Obama Vetoes ITC’s U.S. Sales Ban On iPhone And iPad

Paul Morris·August 4, 2013
When the Apple and Samsung legal wrangle first began, it was new and exciting for those watching from the outside. Keeping an eye on the situation and seeing how events unfolded turned into something of a technology based voyeuristic sport, but that was a long time ago. Although it hasn't been publicized as much of late, the bitter legal battle is still continuing, with the latest twist seeing the ITC ruling in June that Apple were guilty of infringing on Samsung's patents, with the potential punishment being a total ban on the sales of offending iOS devices in the United States.

Q2 Mobile Revenue Charts Show Just How Dominant Apple And Samsung Remain

Ben Reid·August 3, 2013
There are many vendors battling for supremacy in the mobile market. Nokia and BlackBerry are both trying to reinvent themselves on new and overhauled ecosystems, while the likes of LG and HTC continue to plug away on Google's Android. All these companies have enjoyed varying levels of success over the years, but they all have one thing in common in today's market - they're all playing in the shadows of Apple and Samsung. Two of tech's biggest names, they sell devices in the tens of millions every quarter, and the Q2 mobile device revenue figures once again illustrate how far ahead the bickering titans are when compared to the chasing pack.
