Samsung Galaxy S4 Gold Edition Announced, As Expected

Ben Reid·September 25, 2013
Apple's iPhone range may, up until last week, been a pretty monochrome affair, but rivaling vendors have, for a number of years, been offering plenty of variations to consumers looking for something a bit different. Yet while we've seen most colors - from Glamor Reds to Pebble Blues - the Gold iPhone 5s seemed to strike something of a chord, selling out in hours and with the odd few appearing on eBay for extortionate sums. Naturally, Samsung had been planning a gold version of its flagship Galaxy S4 all along, and although it seems to be a luxury product aimed at the more affluent consumer, it's almost as if neither of the industry's so-called Big Two can allow the other any hint of one-upmanship.

Here’s How Much It Costs Apple To Manufacture iPhone 5s And iPhone 5c

Ben Reid·September 25, 2013
Although Apple's new iPhone 5s is the most expensive iPhone model when compared to other models on sale currently, a teardown of iPhone 5s internals and an estimated cost price has revealed that the Cupertino may have built the sought-after handset for under $200. Meanwhile, the research by IHS has revealed that the accompanying iPhone 5c may have cost around $173 in terms of raw materials and construction, which, even though the polycarbonate model is quite a bit cheaper than the new flagship, still equates to a rather healthy profit for Tim Cook's men.

FIFA 14 For Android And iOS Download Now Available Worldwide

Ben Reid·September 25, 2013
FIFA 14 for iOS was released just last week, but unfortunately for avid soccer fans, it was restricted to those based in specific regions. Today, not only has the latest installment of the popular series taken its worldwide bow, but for the very first time, FIFA has made its long-awaited debut for Android over at the Google Play Store. Details, as as well as the download info, can be found after the break.

Gold iPhone 5s Gets Dropped, Dunked Into Water, Then Shot At With A 50-Cal. Round All In Slo-Mo [VIDEO]

Ben Reid·September 24, 2013
Whenever a new gadget is released, the guys of the YouTube channel RatedRR take it upon themselves to basically wreck said device in the most brutal yet spectacular fashion. With the iPhone 5s being the biggest gadget released for a number of years and the gold model in such short supply as millions still await the shiny new color variant of Apple's flagship, the following footage, which shows the remains of the handset after a love-in with a 50-caliber bullet, may be unsuitable for some viewers.

iMac 2013 With Intel Haswell Processor And 802.11ac Wireless Announced: Here Are All The Details

Paul Morris·September 24, 2013
There had been a lot of speculation surrounding the potential upgrade of the MacBook Pro lineup before Apple’s iPhone 5s / 5c media event, but in a move that has managed to escape pre-release attention, it seems that the fruit company has temporarily ignored the pro notebook and instead updated the iMac lineup.

iMessage For Android Now Available Via Unofficial Less Than Trustworthy App

Paul Morris·September 24, 2013
If you’ve ever used an iOS device or a Mac recently, then you’re probably aware of iMessage. Apple’s instant messaging service is a fantastic, free-of-charge way of communicating between compatible iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad, but it looks like the Android world is also getting involved. The iMessage Chat app is now available as a free-of-charge download from the Play Store, and if you trust the word of the security conscious, then it probably represents one of the best and most negatively efficient ways to compromise your Apple ID.

iPhone 5s/5c Launch Day Sales Trounce Samsung Galaxy S Lineup Combined By A Ginormous Margin! [Chart]

Ben Reid·September 24, 2013
It's hard to overstate just how successful, at least in the early days, the iPhone 5s has been. Allied to the iPhone 5c, which will also have shifted a few fair units, the first weekend has seen almost double the amount of sales as compared with the iPhone 5, and when you pit the numbers against the first weekend of Samsung's Galaxy S2, S3 and S4 combined, it's still not what you could call a contest.

Alleged Android 4.4 KitKat UI Images Leak

Ben Reid·September 24, 2013
For a large portion of this year, it was widely thought that Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie would be the next significant release from Google, so the impromptu announcement of Android 4.3 Jelly Bean a couple of months ago was certainly a bit of a shock. With the Big G having diverted attention from 5.0 momentarily, we were then almost certain that the search giant had no further tricks up its sleeve. How wrong we were; Android 4.4 KitKat was announced last month, and although we don't have much of an idea of what it will include as yet, a new leak purports to offer a sneak preview of the new user interface.

Gold iPhone 5s Selling For As High As $1800 On eBay

Paul Morris·September 24, 2013
Even before the iPhone 5s went on sale, we were hearing rumors about extremely limited supply. It even transpired that the country with the beautiful Gold Coast wouldn't have any stock whatsoever of the Gold iPhone 5s. The limited availability of the new gold tinted hardware has meant that prices on secondary sales site eBay have risen past the $1800 mark.

Apple Begins In-Store Pick-Up Option For iPhone 5s / 5c In Certain Retail Stores

Ben Reid·September 23, 2013
The iPhone 5s / 5c may have sold incredibly well in its first weekend on sale, but supplies are now all-but spent, and getting hold of this year's most sought-after gadget so far - if you haven't already - is nigh-on impossible. Consumers placing orders in the past couple of days have been met with lengthy estimated shipping dates of two weeks or more, but in order to try and help fans get hold of the devices more promptly, Apple has rolled out an in-store pick-up option for selected retail outlets. Available through the company's website, the would-be iPhone owner can check store availability for each configuration of the new flagship, before placing their order and picking up the device from their local store.
