After what’s been a very busy week in tech, today we bring you something a little more lighthearted and fun on the form of MeMeSelF for Android, the latest installment in our growing list of good meme-based apps for mobile devices.
Among the plethora of serious, productive, and useful apps throughout the Google Play Store, there are those created for the sole purpose of entertainment, and MeMeSelF by Chai Ronen achieves this with aplomb. Following on from the likes of Memefier for iPhone, MeMeSelF will, using your device’s face detection technology, add a meme / rage face to an image as you’re taking it.
Unlike some of the meme apps we’ve featured in the past – which only allow you to add memes whilst taking the shot on the camera, this nifty little app will also allow you to grab snaps already taken from your photo albums, adding a dose of humor to otherwise unspectacular shots.
As usual, there’s a meme for every occasion, and by trying a few different ones, you’re bound to eventually discover one that’ll have you laughing all weekend. You can alter the type of meme, its size, as well as rotating it around for the perfect finish.
Seeing as it’s a new app, it’s a little rough around the edges, and at present, once can only save images to the SD card (that is, of course, providing you have one in your device), so this is something to consider before downloading. Obviously, in future versions, the developer hopes to rectify this, and also plans to add social plugins enabling you to share your memetized images with the rest of the world.
It’s absolutely free of charge, and is actually a great deal of fun. If your sole objective is to share the snaps with you friends on the likes of Facebook, then at 2.4MB, it’s probably worth downloading anyway, and waiting for the dev to push the next update through.
If you like your memes, this app is most certainly for you. I grant you, it’s not exactly intelligent humor, but fun nonetheless.
