Apple’s M4 iPad Pro and MacBook Pros haven’t been around all that long, but some people are already looking ahead to what comes next. Now, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says we can expect M5 versions to arrive later this year.
Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter, Gurman reports that Apple’s next iPad Pro tablets have entered the “advanced testing” stage, which means that mass production is likely to begin in the second half of this year.
If everything goes the way that it’s expected to, we can then expect that Apple will announce the new M5 iPad Pros around October.
As for the changes that we can expect, the M5 chip is likely to be the biggest tweak, with no major design upgrades expected when compared to the current M4 model.
The same story can be expected for the M5 MacBook Pro, with Gurman saying that few changes are expected when the laptops launch later this year. Some rumors have already hinted at display upgrades and an overall thinner design arriving next year, though, so those hoping for a bigger upgrade might want to keep that in mind. However, if your workflow requires the most performance available, then we can surely expect an impressive M5 chip launch regardless.
Also towards the end of the year we expect that Apple will announce the new iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Pro devices this September.
