M3 iPad Pros With A Refreshed Magic Keyboard Tipped For 2024

Apple’s best iPads won’t get a new update until 2024, according to a new report. But it could well be worth the wait with the new iPad Pros expected to come with some bigger upgrades than in previous years.

Writing in his weekly Power On newsletter Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple’s iPad Pro tablets will be updated next year while also gaining a refreshed Magic Keyboard that will include a larger trackpad than previous iterations.

We’re also told that the new keyboard will make the iPad Pro look and feel more like a laptop computer than ever before.

Gurman says that four new iPads are currently being worked on, adding that they will have brand-new M3 chips as well as new displays. Those displayed are expected to use OLED technology for improved visuals, while the 12.9-inch iPad Pro will grow to 13 inches. The 11-inch iPad Pro isn’t said to also have increased dimensions, however.

The next iPad Pro models — codenamed J717, J718, J720 and J721 — will shift to the next-generation M3 chip. They will also be Apple’s first tablets with OLED displays, the same types of screens used on the iPhone since the X model in 2017. They are crisper and brighter, and reproduce colors more accurately.

The M3 chip will also be used in updated Mac products that are expected to debut in October. The chips are likely to debut in a new 13-inch MacBook Air, updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, and refreshed 24-inch iMac.
