LG’s UltraFine 4K Display Pulled From U.S. Apple Store

Apple hasn’t sold a display of its own but has instead been offering the 4K LG UltraFine Display to those who need an external monitor. However, that monitor is now no longer available for purchase from the Apple Store in the United States, with some international stores also seeing the monitor listed as “Sold Out.”

While the LG display has been a popular one since its arrival in 2016, it’s a poor second choice for those who would prefer an Apple-branded display. However, with the monitor no longer available via Apple, there is some suspicion that it means that either a new model is incoming, or that Apple’s much rumored return to the display market is about to materialise.

On the subject of a new model, there is actually an updated 4K LG UltraFine Display available already, but this one wasn’t designed with the assistance of Apple, unlike the earlier model. That model is currently available via Apple for around $1300, but is there another one about to be introduced at the $700 price point the previous model has now vacated?

On top off all this, Apple has been rumored to have its own 31.6-inch displays in the works, although it’s so far unclear as to whether that’s a standalone product, or one that will be bolted into a future iMac. There is, of course, the spectre of the Mac Pro looming, too, and it stands to reason that Apple would offer its own monitor alongside the high-end workstation once it arrives later this year.

Ultimately, we don’t know what Apple has up its sleeve, but we do know that for now, the only option for those looking to pick up a new monitor from the Apple Store is the 5K LG UltraFine Display.
