iOS 13 Battery Life Drain Vs iOS 12.4.1 Compared [Video]

With Apple almost ready to release iOS 13 to the public, some people might be wondering how the battery life will stack up. Sometimes these big releases aren’t so great, with point releases needed to smooth things out. But what about iOS 13?

That’s something that YouTuber iApple Bytes set about answering. They have compared many different versions of iOS over the years, and this tim,e it’s iOS 13’s turn. It was pitted against the last stable version of iOS to be released, iOS 12.4.1.

In order to get a feel for how the update will perform on both newer and older devices, a range of iPhones was used. A Geekbench test was run with iOS 12.4 .1 installed and then the iOS 13 GM was installed. The iPhones were left overnight to allow an upgrade oddities to complete and then the Geekbench test was run again.

The full video has all of the ins and outs of the results, and it might make for interesting watching. We can save you sitting through the hole thing, though – it turns out that iOS 13 is neither dramatically better nor worse than iOS 12.4.1. Given the troubled development cycle the update has had, as well as some horror stories we heard about previous updates, that’s not a bad result at all.
