Instagram For Windows 10 With PCs And Tablets Support Now Available

Users of Windows 10 powered PCs and tablets can now take advantage of Facebook’s Instagram service beyond viewing images in a web browser following the release of a dedicated Instagram app for the platform.

The app, which was initially released for Windows 10 Mobile, has now been updated to expand support to both Windows 10 PCs and tablets. Of course it’s available as a free download and looks and feels very much as you might expect it to if you have ever used an Instagram app across other platforms.

Having been designed for Windows 10, the app takes advantage of Windows-only frameworks which allow for things such as Live Tiles, and displaying photos and notifications right on a device’s lock screen.

The update not only brings an optimized version of Instagram to Windows 10 PCs and tablets, but also brings in all the elements that made the mobile app an amazing experience. You have access to Stories, Instagram Direct, posting and editing photos, an extensive search function, and much more. The complete feature-list as outlined by Microsoft following the release of the app can be seen below:

– Post and edit photos – Instagram makes sharing moments with everyone in your world easy, speedy, and fun.
– Stories – Stories from people you follow will appear in a row at the top of Feed.
– Instagram Live Tile – Find out what your friends and family are up to at a glance.
– Rich, native notifications – We’ll send you the notifications you want to see so that you don’t miss important updates.
– Instagram Direct – Instagram Direct lets you exchange threaded messages with one or more people, and share posts you see in Feed as a message.
– Full featured Search, Explore, Profile, and Feed.

While this is great news for Window 10 users across the board, it has indeed been a long time coming with Instagram only adding video support for the Windows 10 Mobile version of its app back in April. However, when compared to macOS (OS X)/iOS and Android, Windows is now the only platform to sport a desktop and tablet-specific app.
